A few months back, I talked about the Google Video Sitemap Plugin. You can check it out at that link. Anyway, if you want to talk about an investment that keeps on giving back…wow.
I have some other other posts where I outline some of the successes I’ve had getting videos ranked on page 1 of google with it. Anyway, one in particular was my review of the Flexsqueeze theme. There are several keys to what I’m about to show you, but first, some proof. NOTE: I haven’t done ANYTHING to this page for months, but in the last 48 hours, these are 2 emails I have received:

Though I think I’ll be creating a short information product on exactly what I did to get those results, I’m just going to give a brief insight here.
1) proper naming of your video – make it keyword rich
2) proper naming of your image – make it keyword rich
3) backlinking to the page which holds it, with keyword rich links.
So, if you are thinking about trying to get onto page 1 of google, for videos, which are far easier than regular posts/pages, you should check out the google video sitemap plugin.
It’s a gift from Mark Dulisse that keeps on giving back to me. Can’t thank that guy enough for creating an awesome plugin that simplifies my video domination life.
Take care,

Brandon,
That sounds cool. I must admit I saw your original review and was going to buy the plugin then but I saw Yoast was bringing out a new SEO plugin that was going to include a video site map facility as well. I still don’t think he has released the video site map version.
So I am off to buy this one.
By the way, do you have to host the videos or can you get youtube to host them and just use the embed code to display on your own blog.
Thanks.

Hey Andrew…you need to host the videos (or you can probably do it with amazonS3)…you actually DO NOT want youtube to host the videos. I know that sounds nuts….but it’s true. Reason being, when you get that video showing on page 1 of google, you don’t want it it show a youtube video…you want it to show “yourdomain.com”, and when people click on the image of the video…it goes STRAIGHT TO YOUR LANDING PAGE. Not to youtube. Otherwise, you probably lose a TON of conversions because the people just went to Youtube, found something else interesting, or never saw the link in your desciption to whatever it was you were trying to sell them. Hopefully that makes sense…just ask if you need more clarification on that.
Take care,
Brandon
Right!
So although you have a youtube channel, you don’t put any videos on there you intend to use on your blog?

Hey Andrew,
Here is my typical strategy for it…if I’m doing a general informational/not really wanting to drive traffic to my site through-it type video…I will use youtube. If it is for a product review/promotion, or a keyword on a post/page that I want on page 1….I self-host it. That way, it comes straight to my review page, versus what typically happens is people go to the youtube sight. Hope that helps clarify which direction I go with it.
The beauty of it…is the videos don’t have to be anything special. They can be 20 second long animoto videos that take…oh…60 seconds to create. I also have a secret ninja tactic that I’ll save for the information product that I’ll put together…it is the ultimate “decepticon”.
Hah!
But, the plugin is great. take care…brandon
Great – thanks for sharing that.
I just purchased the plugin (hopefully through your link!).

Hey Andrew….great…I did see the notification come through yesterday, but wasn’t sure it was you. Thank you for the purchase. Tell you what…and this goes for everybody…I soon plan on putting together a short product on exactly what I do for the GVS plugin. Remind me when you see it roll out the door, and I’ll get you free access as a bonus for purchasing through my link. How does that sound ? Matter of fact…I’ll try to get the product together this upcoming week. I have my survivor one launching on Monday…so we’ll see how I’m looking timewise.
Thanks,
Brandon
Thanks Brandon – that would be excellent.
