  1. My hats off to you. Great video. You made me laugh. The banana phone is awesome. I can see James on that. :) Good stuff. Good message. I like it. :)

    The frogs like it too.

    • Richard,

Thanks man. This especially means a lot coming from one of the folks who provided some of the “hard” feedback on Saturday that many people don’t like to hear. Not me…if I’m screwing up. Let me know and I’ll definitely consider what is being said and if needed, strive to make the situation better.
Regarding the frogs…rest assured, their days are unfortunately numbered. (We started to chlorinate and shock the pool yesterday.)
They’ll need to find some place else to sing their love songs. ;)

  2. Hey Brandon,

Super Awesome man. I have to say that, banana phone is really great.
Good stuff man. Keep it up.

Thanks for sharing this great video. Keep up the good work bro.

Hopefully the messages are good too. I don’t want to lose focus on what I’m trying to convey, while trying to add some pizazz to them.

I actually used to own a banana phone. Well, the real banana phone not a banana-looking one.

I don’t think I’ll be doing similar videos in the future but I really enjoyed the video.

    Have a good one B.

Good to see that the hosting switch was successful and you’re back! Love your props and I think it was a stellar way of getting the message across. Poor froggies :)

    • Hey Jean,

Thanks…boy was I sweating it out yesterday. We were down a lot longer than I’d had hoped, but it worked out in the end and all seems to be good. Will be blogging about it this week for everyone to take notes from.

  5. Alex says:

LOL! Man you are a freak Brandon! That was awesome. I love that you ate your phone half way through. I feel like doing that sometimes!
OK since it’s all ‘out there’ can I just ask if that vest is a prop or did you choose to wear something that looks like an inside out sheep.

My personal opinion is that I really DON’T LIKE VIDEO.
I know it sucks to be me and all and vlogging is where it’s heading, or so it seems, but I HATE WATCHING. Actually that’s not true because I really enjoyed watching you eat your phone and wearing an inside out sheep, so I think the more fitting statement would be ‘I LOVE READING’ This is the issue I have with many blogs nowadays. I usually watch the video anyway if I am interested (or if it’s aTIP vid) but I dont get the same value as I would had I read the same post.
Reading allows you to go at your own pace, using your own voice – and nothing can ever beat that (for me at least)
Anyway, loved the vid but considering you did not eat lunch and all you got was half a phone – here is some food for thought.

    Alex
PS: Concur with Jean, wicked that the move went (well)

    • Hey Alex,
Nahhh..I like where sheep clothing from my nine year old daughter on a summer day. It’s comforting.

I appreciate your feedback about the vid stuff. I think coupling that with Dev’s stuff I’m going to try to do more of a mix for all of you here. Here is my big hangup…I type so much slower than I talk. So, it helps me to be able to crank out videos quickly.

I do appreciate the thoughts and will change some stuff up.

      B

Maybe it’s me, but I’d rather read then watch a video. I guess I’m in the minority. When I have a video playing I tend to wander off and browse other sites and just try to keep tabs on the audio. I usually have to end up watching the videos 2 or 3 times to get the points.

Looks like I’m not the only one. The only difference is that you can actually feel the presenter doing the video. Just like receiving an email as opposed to talking to the person.

    • Hey Mike,
I don’t know…maybe you’re not the minority. Several others have said about it now.

What are everyone else’s thoughts? maybe this would be a good post and to get feedback from people on. Anyway, I’ll be mixing it up some more to try and keep everyone happy.

I oftentimes wonder…how much are people really reading your posts? I don’t mean yours, as in, you, personally. I mean yours, as in, all of us in general. Or do they just skim to so that they can get some link juice when they leave a comment? That’s why I kind of like videos, because I know if someone is going to leave a good comment on the site, they need to watch a video for a couple minutes. It also enables me to get “face” time with them. I feel words don’t really allow that opportunity to meet folks in their space and speak right to them.
At least these are my thoughts…i don’t for sure.

Anyway, I’ll be mixing it up.

      So, take care,
      Brandon

      • Alex says:

You make a really good point about the more personal experience, so here is my continued feedback.
If a post was to say blah blah blah…hey this is a quick video, it goes for 1:40 seconds (for eg) then I would most definitely watch it!
Apart from preferring to read, the other detractor from video is that 1: most video players don’t show a time, so without clicking I can’t gauge how long it will go for, and 2: sometimes the time WILL show, proudly displaying an 8 or 10 minute length. I’m sorry but my attention span is not that long and….oh look, a castle!
Result: post the length (running time) and keep them under 3 minutes and you will get better viewing rates.
        This is just my opinion.

        • You know what..I completely agree. I hate long videos and I think your 3 minute cue is right on the money. I know I went a little long on the one the other day. I really like the idea of posting the video time for others to see. That’s a really good idea.

          Thanks.
PS….this comment should have taken you 15 seconds to read. ;)

        • Alex, this is the reason I steer clear of video’s personally. I can read far quicker than I can watch a video.

  7. Hi Brandon. I’m back after reading other’s comments on this.

I think Videos are Great, but they should not be daily. Videos are really good at getting your page views up and interacting with the audience, but, like someone said before, if you are at work, you can’t watch them.

Plus, search engines can’t search them. So for Google, there is very little material on this page other than visitor comments. I think if you do a video, it should also have the text, full text or summarized text, for those that can’t watch, don’t want to watch and still get the same message.

    • Richard,

Point well taken and I appreciate you chiming in also. Yeah, sounds like it is a good idea to mix things up a bit.

      B

    • Richard, I agree with you. I think you should look to the master Darren Rowse, he posts a video every now and then. I personally think daily video is too much, as it takes me too long to view them. I watched a video the other day which was 78 minutes long. I knew it was going to be that length of time and I scheduled time for it because I knew it was 100% relevant to me. Watching daily videos of 5-10 mins in length means that I could spend an hour or two on this in a week and get nothing out of them.

Lol great messages here. You actually couldn’t have made this video at a better time since I’m doing video on my blog now. So far everyone likes the videos as far as I know and you gave me some great ideas for making them in the future.

I actually have a lisp when I talk because I have a flat s sound and I worry about that on my videos but ultimately, it’s me. The way I see it, if people get the message and like me for who I am, that’s really all that matters.

Thanks for the great tips here! :)

Props are a great idea. Only seen it done one other time, and that was for only ONE of their posts. The video looks a lot better. Did you actually do anything except maybe switch locations. Did you change settings, or get a new one?

    • Hey Sheila, For that video, I just switched locations. I did get a new camera, and tomorrows post will cover exactly what I’ve been using and what I’ll be trying.

      Take care,
      Brandon

  13. Interesting video with interesting massage,
