You are so right, James. If you don’t actually start doing something out of the money side of your blog or site you won’t be able to provide for your family or survive. You need not to be afraid of your readers. And as you said, let those who will leave leave.
I was reading something similar to what you talked about now on David Risley’s blog yesterday. It was an article titled “How To Remain Broke As A Blogger”. I think you even linked to it yesterday in your post about David Risley.
Honestly, I’m part of the people who, David, was talking about being doomed and all that , but since yesterday I’ve got a change of mindset and you’ve hit on that again too today. So I think God is trying to tell me something .
I’ve been stalling on taking action recently, in particularly in making a decision as to what project I wanted to pursue for the next 12 months. Rather than taking action and just making the decision I’ve been
putting it off and putting it off.
I don’t want to turn my site into a business, yet, but I’ve been reminded of my own experience recently the importance of taking action. Sometimes even the best of us, like you and me, need to remember to just get stuck in and do the business.
Yeah, you’re really the king of taking action – I wonder how you squeeze that time in between your job and your family time.
Can’t wait start the team writing sessions !
I totally agree that you just have to let go the people who are simply jealous of what you are doing and accomplishing, and you need to focus on giving importance to the ones who keep reading your content and those who are most likely willing to buy from you.

I totally agree with what you are saying. Its all about putting the effort in. You have to give everything you have got in order to get everything you want!
By the way, your right… it doesn’t matter that the new office isn’t decorated yet… there will be plenty of time for that after the first million ;] And you’ll be able to use that 100 carrot gold paint on the walls too ;p

Taking action is important. When you just do something you will quickly learn if it’s right or wrong. Ultimately, even if you’re wrong, how you handle the situation and the fact that you took action is better than never doing so.
I commented here several weeks ago when you were offering to work together with people. Anyway, I was messing around with a couple of sites and realized I was trying to write content for stuff I knew little to nothing about. That made a difficult task even more difficult! Of course, I wasn’t getting any traffic.
I FINALLY got into action and started working on a site I know a lot about (actually, I suspect you know a lot about it too). Anyway, I’ve been writing articles, posting content and just trying to get the whole blog thing figured out (templates, plugins, seo, etc…). I am sure I am making mistakes, in fact, I know I am! I already had to correct one that had to do with tags and nofollow because one of my posts that had about 20 tags and got found by google. I fixed that problem, but no clue how to tell google to remove those duplicate content items.
Anyway, I still am not getting any traffic – but I am sure it will come with time. The site is not even two weeks old yet. I’ll keep plugging away and hopefully will be rewarded at some point. I still have a long way to go. But to your point, I’m finally IN ACTION as opposed to just reading and following the action of other people. Even if it is just one post every other day, it’s a small SOMETHING that eventually adds up to SOMETHING MORE!
Would love it if you could check out my site in your spare time (lol) and let me know if I’m doing something grossly wrong. Best wishes for your continued success!!!!
James – I know I sent you an email yesterday, but I also wanted to say thanks publicly. I certainly appreciate your feedback and will start to work on the suggestions you provided.

Also, as David Risley says, “Don’t worry, be crappy.”
Crappy action now is better than perfect action later.
