I’m a big believer in attracting positive energy, if you are a positive person you will attract positive people and so on. The same applies for your business or website, if you write in a negative way you will get negative comments, not necessarily negative about your content or site, but negative about the situation you are talking about.
This isn’t good, negative comments in posts can actually cause a traffic spike, because most people love a good whinge, but ultimately what are you going to do after that spike, release another negative post and cause more negativity?
- Positive
I could have named this bullet ‘negative’ but that would lead it into a negative post. Being positive is where it’s at, there is so much pain and suffering in this world at the moment, people who come to your site should feel one of three things; uplifted, educated, motivated. What ever your market place you have a job to do so make sure every piece of content is positive.
I’ve just filmed a new video for a post in which will come out soon, in which I’m pumped to the max, no not straight out of the gym but buzzing from the adrenaline this site and it’s journey is giving me, that positive attitude and action will motivate others to make them believe they can achieve anything they want to, because it’s all out there you just have to grab it. I didn’t just release a video on the importance of hating everything!
- Traffic Jam
Ever been in a traffic jam? Of course you have I live my life in them these days, but the thing I do and I tell you this works, if you haven’t tried it, don’t laugh just yet give it a go, but yeah the thing I do is to think about a space opening up I can squeeze into instead of thinking how bad the traffic is.
If you think that the traffic is awful and how late you are going to be, then guess what you’re going to hit more traffic, more problems and you will for sure be late.
If, however, You think you will find a spot to get around the traffic or someone will let you in and you will get to your destination on time no problem, then you will. OK sometimes this doesn’t always work out, but without getting all LifeStyle design on you, if the traffic doesn’t clear up at least you will arrive a lot more relaxed having not stressed about the traffic for the last hour.
How do you relate all this to your site? Well a few different ways, if your stressing about finding new readers and traffic then it’s going to come out in your posts, that despair will be evident for all to see. The same goes for comments, if all you leave are negative pessimistic views on every site you visit, your click through traffic and new subscribers will be minimal at best.
Leave informative inspiring or educational comments for the best karma a site could hope for.
- Objective, but Positive
Don’t get me wrong here you don’t have to go all out and be the happy smiling nut everywhere you go, sprinkling fairy dust everywhere you go, you can oppose to things. It has to be done properly though, I’m a real hot head made from fire and it’s something I have to be massively aware of, so I take the time to construct what I am trying to say then make sure it reads and comes across constructively rather than aggressive or negative.
This is a hard thing to do but it’s something that needs to be done. Slamming someone else on a site is bad enough but if you go all out and do it every where you go then your in for a world of hurt. I have seen a lot of people instantly take things I say on the back foot and immediately go on the offensive you can see it straight away and if I can see it, so can everyone else.
Ultimately all this boils down to being your self but having the respect for your readers. As I said earlier, your job is to educate, uplift or motivate not to alienate.
What does everyone think?

Some valid points made there, sometimes it’s good to get the negative crap out of your system though I have to admit, sometimes it’s needed, depending ion the nature of it.
Negative for the sake of negative isn’t wise though I agree.
Gotta be careful not to turn into a rainbow selling kum-by-yah blogger though too..

Yeah exactly brother keeping it real is important dude. I made a vow not to focus on the negative in order not to attract more negativity
Whoops, I’ve just written a couple of negative posts. They’re negative in a positive sort of way, though.
Phil
Negative to whom? In who’s eyes?
Yours, or the readers?
Sometimes you do your readers a favour by showing them it’s not all a bed of roses…
It’s not a coincidence we often learn from from negative examples than positive ones, maybe it’s just that people can relate to it better.

Good point. I guess the trick is not to be routinely negative. Like people who offload their woes when you say “how are you?” I always say “I’m great, thanks” even if I am feeling shit.
Yeah, balance is good… more in favour of positive though.

Good point Phil, and Rob you’re right too you have to lay it out sometimes in order for a lesson to be learnt, something like preventing others falling into the same trap

This is timely.
I watched someone over the last week write an “objective” series of articles examining the negative aspects of our work here (brutally hard work, low recognition, etc.). All true, but so what?
The series went over a few posts from being light-heartedly critical to conclude with a full 0n rant about how social media was so messed up and the people, well, I didn’t even make it all the way through.
I couldn’t bear it.
“Yes, of course, people are people” I wanted to tell this person. “Being on twitter changes nothing. It’s about the social. The media is irrelevant.”
I held my peace.
Hrm… looks like I’m finally back on the commenting circuit. Had to take a couple of weeks off… time to hammer down.

Yeah brother good to have you back, bet your site will notice the difference too, where you been dude?
Breaking my ‘nads on some plugin code and working on Blog Post Engineering.
I got the dailies out.
Intensely difficult to code and comment. Context is just really different. Just need more practice.
Hammer down.
Yes positive, I have been sorta negative for a long time but am looking towards a greater future. So yes Positive.
One must always be positive in actions. What you sew is what you rip. Thanks for letting us know that a positive person attracts positive people. I think i’m going to write a little on that on my blog post.

Hey James, I have to partly disagree with you here,
Your main focus should be on the positive side, but that doesn’t mean you have to completely shut out the “opposing” forces.
Having a few negative comments in your section can spice up a real, intense debate.
It’s democratic and fun if you go by “anything goes”.
After all, how many comments that start with “Great post. I agree with you” can you seriously accept before it bores the hell out of you (and your readers) ?
.-= Mars Dorian´s last blog ..Whatever you think, think the opposite =-.
Yeah I wasn’t saying the comments have to be completely positive, it’s really good for the site to have a debate but focusing on a negative from the start without offering a positive isn’t good ju ju. What do you think?
Being positive is the way to go. I often find myself taking negative things and turning them positive and making a post out of it. Negative energy can only take you down and it only attract more negative energy. Positivity = results. Love the post James!

Thanks Alex you’re right I deliberated a lot over my latest post but I actually think that turning everything into a positive really does make a difference
Being positive does help in many situations and does attract more positive things in your life.
After all, who wants negative things to come their way?
I don’t. I want positive things to come my way!

Exactly brother positivity attracts positive things
It is really important to be positive. Try to be positive and you will attract positivity and try to be otherwise and you will also attract otherwise. I haven’t read much about the law of attraction but the little i read lets me know that what you do is what you attract and I absolutely believe it.
Thanks for the nice post.
