I plan on doing this at every day in addition to the written content. I know some prefer videos, while some prefer text posts so I plan on catering for both camps, anyway let me know what you think and don’t worry it’s not going completely video.

I agree with you James, I am using one laptop that has my everything on it now! but it’s a very powerful one because I use it to create graphics as I am originally a web-designer that like to open more than 10 applications, using 4 different browsers at the same time with over 30 tabs open on each, so actually I am still on your blog since the first time I open it, that was 3 days back I guess lol!
Actually this depends on your niche if you really need those dual big inches wide screens and other expensive accessories to work, or just one nice laptop to do your tasks, but for blogging and marketing related work probably you don’t even need a computer lol! just kidding.
So, anyways.. I enjoy your video posts, but of course some text is good from time to time!

Yeah don’t worry it won’t be changing into a complete vlog site, I will be adding a daily video in addition to everythign else
You know I’m gonna disagree here don’t you James?
My needs are a little different though. Right now I have one monitor; and that works OK… but I really need to have two so I can space out the software and options properly. For that to work well they have to be big. Its on my ‘someday’ wishlist next to being able to afford the commercial licence on my software (over 1.5k).

Ah yes but your an uber tech boffin head type (meant in the nicest of ways) you have a design need for that so yeah Heather can have two screens lol. How was your weekend?
Hehe, so to double check, I won’t be slated for having two whenever I can afford them =P
Pretty good, though busy (as always); didn’t get as much done as I wanted to but I had fun anyway. What about yours?
.-= Heather´s last blog ..Webcomic: The Mayans Day 2 =-.
Busy as always pretty much finished my second tutorial and recording some videos etc and of course making sure my wife had a great mothers day/weekend with the help of my little un who wanted to play on his trampoline all weekend ha ha ha good job I had a lot of coffee
Good to hear
Is your kid just as energetic as you are? (in which case I’d have to say that coffee was definitely an appropriate energy enhancer)
Glad the tutorials are doing well!

Yeah he is non stop mate, seriously hard core but so advanced for age. It’s funny yesterday I asked him to put his shoes on and he said ”OK wait a minute just going to check my emails….” Wonder where he gets that from
Fancy that… I keep expecting my brother to say something similar; my entire family does that (except maybe Mum, she does it less often). Then again, he doesn’t have email yet.
I give it another year at the most lol.

I personally use two screens and I agree you don’t need them but sometimes it’s really useful. For example I have made a list of all the articles I have written on my blog including URLs just to be able to interlink my posts before I publish them. That’s one way of using the two computer screens. On one I have my blog opened in my browser and on the other I have opened my list of articles that I want to interlink.
But anyway I understand what you are saying here. I would go as far as saying that more than two screens is too much. You can only focus on so many things at once.

Hey man, yeah it’s only a light hearted look at it all, I just think it’s really funny when you see peoples pictures of there office and on one hand it makes them look normal but on the other hand you think, you can only look at one thing at a time! Maybe if your a designer like Heather but for me one screen is enough lol
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video brother
Nice video James, and funny title to boot.
Now I have to admit, I am geeky and love electronic equipment but you are right, a ton of equipment is not needed to blog and get the job done. A decent laptop and some broadband is really the basics.
This is a good point however, and I hope some of the newer bloggers don’t feel like they are at some disadvantage from an equipment standpoint.
.-= Jimi Jones´s last blog ..Elements of Branding =-.
Yeah this video and ones to come are just a bit of fun to lighten the load a bit, you’re right though some see the pictures of the two/ten screen johnnys and think the’re going to need tons of kit
Yes James, you are right that you don’t “need” all that equipment, but I have dual screens (I won my second screen in a contest) and sometimes my laptop open all at the same time, usually each screen has a purpose.
I can see where someone that doesn’t internet market for a living, sitting in front of a computer for sometimes 16-18hrs a day wouldn’t think that equipment is needed. I personally started blogging on a 14″ laptop with only 256meg of RAM and a 40Gig hard drive.
Since hooking up my dual setup, I absolutely LOVE it. During the day (normal business hours) I can keep email and Skype (I use skype for all my phone calls too) open on my smaller screen, and my sites and other tabs open on my bigger screen. I also found that keeping my Twitter app open after hrs (when normal business is complete) helps me keep on top of certain lists, or replies better in the evenings while I am working on writing, research, or design projects.
So as a conclusion, yes I agree you don’t “need” that equipment, but if you become a fulltime internet marketer (which I know you are striving for it) you might just come back to this video and change your mind a bit. I don’t need it to do my job, but it makes it easier. When you are on a computer from 8 or 9am to well past midnight sometimes, you want to be comfortable, and I don’t see anything wrong with having multiple monitors.

Yeah man I saw you won that screen, lucky so and so it looks sweet!
Brother yeah it’s just a light hearted look at the two screen johnnys, I secretly want 50 screens like something out of the minority report just to check my facebook lol
Hi James,
Don’t tell me you run the Infopreneur on that laptop of yours! That’s it?
I’ve got three systems, just let the fourth go to a client. I could use a total of six.
I’ve got a Linux beta OS in development that can’t be disturbed. I can’t even see the desktop on the screen for all the development icons. I have one system that manages an online live support for two websites, that have plenty of challenges without running anything else. I have one that manages, Bloggers Market, Blogging Extreme, Blogger Extreme and Twitter. I have one that manages the e-mail only (about 200 pieces a day, spread over 24 accounts) that’s the one I let go and now need to replace because it’s running me nuts doing e-mail and my Blogs (I work with 11) on one computer.
The other two, I need for the development and coding of websites that I build and sell. And yes, I make my living online! I’m movin’ always movin’. Now where is that BlackBerry Storm of mine?
.-= Jeffrey´s last blog ..Meg Hourihan =-.
Brother that’s awesome ! lol I was glued to my seat reading that I actually wanted to help you find your blackberry! Brother want a guest post on this type of subject? How you make money online and what is actually involved?
And yeah dude all run from a laptop!
Well, of course you don’t need it,
If you’re truly honest with yourself you don’t even need the internet (that’s my insane part speaking here !). But once your business increases, and you have to take care of your online empire – who knows what you need in order to monitor it all.
(I see myself in the future with a movie screen display and using my voice to let the CPU write my blog
But for now, every screen and simple equipment does its job. No sweat here.

Brother I hope someone releases a plugin that could transcribe what I am saying straight into text how awesome would that be?
Hmmm not sure where I stand on this one. I don’t have enough experience using more than one monitor or computer at a time, except when I was working for someone else. I’d like to think that if I had another monitor I could be more productive. I feel like at times I’m missing out on opportunites. The side by side with windows helps and I use it as well.
Guess I’ll go smoke some more cigarettes and watch captain Kangaroo some more. Good job with the video’s brother. I see Allyn paid you a nice compliment….the new Gary V.

hey brother yeah it’s just a bit of light hearted stuff really. I do think though that when I have the time in the world I honestly don’t think I could handle two screens. I mean from an online marketing, infopreneur point of view I only have one set of eye balls and I can open different windows on my screen. Lol is does make me laugh when I see all the top flight with like ten screens everywhere on their promotion shots though lol
So much energy and motivation….WOW!!!

I am so glad to hear someone say it. I know enough to know you do not need to invest in equipment you do not need and that you are not ready for. I plan on making videos for my website soon.
I like your videos because they meet the needs of the people who learn visually, thank you.

That’s good to hear, really loving the videos at the minute
I hear two screens are the way to go
But whatever is your preference I guess, really comes down to productivity!

Hype is hype. Some people are just looking for that excitement. Screens coming at you from all angles. I’d be scared! My one monitor is more than enough. I use my desktop at home and my 8.9 inch laptop every where else!

Yeah man my laptop goes everywhere with me dude, ditto
Hi James,
I partly agree with you. Too many screens can become counterproductive. But as a software developer, I find a dual screen setup is really helpful at times.
But for my blogging tasks, I prefer a single screen. Allows me to concentrate more and focus well on what I am doing.
Aaron
.-= Aaron´s last blog ..Potential Business Uses of the iPad =-.
Yeah exactly brother, for this type of thing surely you only need one screen, you can only look at one thing at a time anyway
Hey James, I have to agree, you do not need a ton of stuff to go. I use my laptop for everything, I jsut have several apps and windows open at the same time. I can keep it straight enough for me and that is as good as it needs to be. I do have 2 other computers in the house, 1 for general family work and one just for the kids to screw up. Both of those designed so they will leave my laptop the hell alone. It is the most powerful of the 3. Like I said, it works for me.
As for videos, glad to hear it won’t be a vid only site. I for one would not watch all of them. I like reading blogs and watching selected things. If I want video there is you tube and television.
Later Man.,

Yeah don’t worry brother it’s not going that way, if anything it just means even more content on here
You’re right… You don’t need anything but one good computer either your own or a public machine. I personally have one nice computer with a 24 inch monitor. It works and it’s what I’ve used all year and I love it!
You can certainly want something bigger and better if you have further goals but I wouldn’t see how you’d NEED that.
Good thought here dude!
