The Secret to producing over 50 posts a month

I get asked this a lot on twitter, in fact it’s probably the most asked question I get other than how do I get so much traffic. This site has been live for 32 days now and in that time I have produced 54 posts, this being 55. That’s 1.7 posts a day. For me this figure is slightly lower than where I want it to be but for many it’s way higher than they think they can achieve. I’m here to unveil the answer to churning out great content consistently;

  • Inspiration

No man is an island. You need to interact with people and have experiences in different arenas. Think about it, if you were a person locked in a black room since birth then given a pallet and a brush the result probably wouldn’t be a master piece, you need inspiration and influences to give you constant fresh ideas. I get some of my ideas from my readers, from past business experiences, family, even the guy at the end of the bar. They all have a story to tell, each of them a walking post in what to do or what not to do. Each experience is related to your readers, because if one person has gone through it, a million have.

  • Passion

I have spoken to complete strangers about my site and online success for hours without taking a sip of my beer. I could do it all day, in fact I look forward to the day when I get invited to speak at a seminar about motivation and making your own way. I love this site, I love my readers, I love the comments I get even the odd negative one, because I can turn it into a positive without even thinking. You need to be passionate bordering on obsessive about being the best website you could possibly be. Whether that means searching out infinite facts to back up what you say or living and breathing your site by using related forums and interacting with like minded people on social networks.

  • Necessity

Necessity is one of the biggest factors that is driving me to write and promote, write and promote, write and promote. Without necessity you don’t have to do anything, you can write tomorrow, it doesn’t matter if you don’t beat yesterdays traffic. I want to be able to provide for my family, my children and my children’s children. Why did you start your site? Think about it and use it to drive you forward.

  • Guests

If you write inspiring posts you will have a flock of people wanting to come along for the ride in the form of guest posts. Guest posts are fantastic for building your content, traffic and fan base. If you sometimes find your self  short of time, using guest posts is another way to keep you on track, don’t over use them though as ultimately it’s your site, people come to hear what you have to say.

top-secret

So there it is, the secret. What does everyone think?

I think what your doing is great! I definately feel the energy & passion coming through in your writing. Thanks for the inspirtion!

  2. estee is right. You do have an amazing energy on this site. I think it’s a combination of your writing style and the layout of the site, mixed with the personality that you exude in your marketing. You’re very personal.

I know that it gets you a lot of comments, a lot of traffic, a lot of talk on twitter. And I don’t know about you, but those things really get ME going.

I know what I need to do to get more work on my site is focus, quit procrastinating, and just do it. :) So I’m off to write. Thanks.

  3. Hey James, amazing, your story is really inspiring. Over 50 posts a month, you are my hero :) .

Yes I feel your passion and energy too, it’s contagious.

    See you James.

    Spot on James!

The big 2 for me are inspiration and passion. Without those any enterprise is doomed.

Just hope I can get as many posts, as much traffic and as many RTs with my new blog

I read a post of yours yesterday and could not remember who you were. But it lit a fire under my a$$ and I wrote a post today and will try to write one a day. all I post on is Blogger, is that enough? http://nosupportfortheamericanbusinessowner.blogspot.com/2009/12/family-and-friends-just-dont-understand.html this is what I did today. You are inspiring, thanks. Now I have to find that post because it mentioned other blog sites.

    • Subscribe to my newsletter and you will be kept up to date! Blogger is enough, I’m using This It works better for me. Just write as much as you feel comfortable with and believe in yourself! If I can do it, so can anyone

I’m impressed. You have given me a vote of confidence. I am working on two blogs at the moment (and welcome comments), and, if I didn’t have a 1.1 G processor and only 512 G RAM, I would save HOURS daily! The really good news (besides the fact Shannon is alive) is my son couldn’t stand anymore and broke down last night admitting he bought me a laptop for Christmas! He had to get a ride and stand in line for 5 hours the day after Thanksgiving to get it for 399. USD, using money he was saving to fix our only car. God IS so good! Thank you for posting this. Merry Christmas to all and God bless you.

  8. Phaethon says:

Well I’ve got to say, it’s not 50, but this post got me to write one, so thanks for that :) .

  9. Wow! over 50 posts in a month. Impressive. I agree with all your points. Finding inspiration all around you is really important for developing new content. I also agree you have to be ‘passionate bordering on obsessive’ with your blog. If you don’t believe in your work – how can you get others interested? Thanks for encouraging us all to strive for excellence.

  10. You do a great job writing about topics that people can relate to, particularly people who are “going for it” in business. Staying focused is key and having a clear goal helps me stay disciplined. I write one post a week and one newsletter a month. Knowing that it is my job to complete those two tasks keeps me looking for inspiration. I really appreciate your blog.

  11. Rose says:

James, you’ve done a great job with your blog. My problem is time. Too many projects at once & too many blogs. lol

    • Hey Rose,

Yeah that’s the reason I don’t have another 3 or 4 sites. I have so many ideas and thoughts for other sites but just don’t have the time running this one.

As you say it’s a full time job, If you can call sitting down drinking coffee and typing all day a job!

My site is a little over 2weeks (16days) and I have 19 posts (about to write #20) so I am not doing bad, but not as good as you did, I have other sites and I work too (I know, excuses, excuses! )

Great job on content level, don’t get burned out!

If you have a burning desire to do something you will always find the time and ways of making it happen. Always. Great job with your site. I look forward to reading more posts.

  14. Achieving goals is about setting metrics and tracking progress. Test and measure, test and measure.

What works for some may not work for others, you need to be yourself and try lots of stuff and stuff that works, do it some more.
