Soldiers and entrepreneurs have the same mind set just clad in different clothes, I spent 10 years in the military, but it was 10 years of being an entrepreneur. Soldiers and Entrepreneurs share a lot of the same qualities;
- We know the difference between talking and getting things done.
- We thrive off competition.
- We constantly adapt.
- We’re always on the look out.
- And We LOVE COFFEE!

I’ve got a couple of kids in the military and think both would make excellent entrepreneurs. They just don’t know it yet.

Hey Jean, yeah it’s difficult to see when you’re in because you’re surrounded by like minded individuals, it’s only when you get out you realise how developed you are compared to the norm’.
How long have they been in Jean?
I have to say James, you have come a LONG way with your videos, I like the shorter, too the point ones, and a little laugh is always good!
Go to your YouTube account and watch your first one, then when you moved upstairs, and then the last couple. Literally you can see the transformation!

I like this video… And man if you could really read as fast as you’re skimming there!
I like what you said about getting things done by the way. There is a big difference in doing and getting done. Some people don’t realise this.

I see a coffee endorsement in your future. Excellent advise, once again.

ha ha that would be awesome, because it’s starting to cost me ! lol
There is definitely a similarity between entrepreneurs and soldiers. You have to be able to think on your feet so quickly and you are totally right that you have to buckle down and do the work that gets it done.
Too often, people just sit and complain that they are stuck in a situation, but they are too scared to work to get themselves out of it as well. That’s when you’ve really got to put on your entrepreneurial soldier helmet.

Totally man, I think knowing the difference between talking about something and actually implementing it are two completely different things!
James,
I hit your blog yesterday for the first time ever. Awesome awesome stuff. Matter of fact, i even purchased your 20/7 this morning. I enjoy your honesty, attitude, and gumption.
I used to be in the military, and I have to agree with you. Something is developed in many people there that is hard to put a handle on. They definately have a way of making you excel at whatever you do best…in most cases.

Hey brother thanks man, yeah agreed it’s something that’s stiched into your DNA that simple makes us react and adapt a lot quicker just like entrepreneurs
Lol,

I also think that a tremendous amount of discipline is a value which both soldiers and entrepreneurs have. Both do their tasks regardless of whether they are feeling great or aren’t exactly having a good day.

That’s exactly right brother, someone else, somewhere will be worse off than you
Certainly life experiences are often much better than schooling or other types of training because they only simulate the real world; things such as the military are the real world, so the virtues learned there from experiences are habits that can be used in the world; mainly the free world of entrepreneurship.
Probably the best training anyone can have.
Hrm…
I wonder if my natural ability at reconnaissance (amphibious) is telling me something about how I’m approaching my business.
Reconnaissance, you know, you never see us. We’re scoping it out. Getting the lay of the land. Assessing enemy strength, fortifications, all pure stealth. Never shooting, no no no, that’s give-a-way.
Until we’ve seen enough.
Then we call in the air strikes.
I haven’t called in air strikes. Yet.

Lol! (the gun book and gun shot at the end caught me off guard) I laugh, but you’re so right! Are sure you’re only talking about coffee and not some other stimulant?

I’ve not been in the military myself – however I can see where you are coming from with this post.
Great job at explaining your point, I believe it is life experience that gets you places rather than an education. I’m looking at expanding on the experiences I have and encounter new and exciting things to improve myself.

Gun catalog cracked me up too…especially all of the bookmarks!
I have thought about taking a military approach to business, works for my Dad. Good thoughts here James.
Sorry to see you have covered up the screwdriver. maybe you could have videos or ads on the screen behind you. Maybe your goals written down and laser sights trying to focus on them… and then rapid gunfire blowing the goals away!
man too much caffiene for a while…..
