Run BEFORE You Walk!
The old saying of don’t run before you walk is probably one of the most common saying around. Everyone has heard of it and probably been instructed by it at some point in their life. Well theInfoPreneur thinks differently. I say ‘ Run before you walk’
If you have read my ‘About’ me page, you will know that I have ran several start up internet business’, some have failed, but the majority have been a great success, and I put that down to my initial statement, running straight into it!
When I set TheInfoPreneur site up I didn’t know how I was going to approach, Where I was going to take it, or where I wanted to end up. That said the best way for me to learn is by jumping in with both feet and finding out from there. I am of the opinion if you walk, its quicker for you to come to a stand still, and more importantly easy for someone to overtake you.
I’m a keen Ultra-Marathon runner, I run at near full pace to build muscular endurance and heart rate threshold, I couldn’t run the times or miles I do if I bimble around or walked up and down the hills! ‘Train Hard, Fight Easy’
Granted by going at it all guns blazing, your going to make mistakes, but those mistakes come early on, because your running not walking. And by tackling those hurdles nice and early you get where you want to be a lot quicker!
- Imagine you have never been on a roller coaster, and not on e of those wooden framed up and over jobs, a real ten looper that pulls 3G’s in the corners. Now you could start off by going on a ferris wheel, then onto a ghost train, from there maybe try a pirate ship then tackle a log flume before finally building enough courage to go for the big one, But why would you waste your time? Do the big ten looper first and then go on all the other rides having the confidence that you will conquer it.
- Another way to look at it would be to look at sky diving, You don’t use progressions on diving boards starting at 10 feet working all the way up to 1,990 feet then finally jump, You go and jump straight out at 2,000 feet. (FYI I know there is more to it, but you get my point)
I’ll concede that walking and learning the ropes slow time, can sometimes have its advantages, brain Surgery for instance takes time! But in being an InfoPreneur, you need to (I believe) go at it full throttle, and attack it with everything you have right from the start!

Interesting perspective – and , while its hard to generalise, I certainly agree you can’t be half committed and do need to be prepared for endurance. At the end of the day, though, your pace will be determined by your customers – great if their demand draws you on; not so great if you are way ahead of them.
thanks for the thoughts

Awesome stuff here. You definitely show leadership with your blog and you’re not just all talk. You’re going at it full throttle and you’re doing it. Just so you know you’re in my top blogs to visit daily.
I believe you should go at it this way too because when people say Go For IT!; they’re not meaning take small steps and get there slowly. I like to think that having a goal and a plan is your slow period. When you do it, do it fast and do it best you can.
You’re kicking ass with this blog man! Awesome stuff. I LOVE reading your articles!
I know you will do this anyway but I am going to say this anyway: keep at it!

I love reading your articles, they always give me something to think about and I often find myself nodding along with you!
This time though I don’t completely agree. The drive and passion you have shines through and this article is a great motivation to get people going. However, I believe people also need space to go at their own speed and even take a few backward steps sometimes.
What made me think was your allusion to jumping from high places. I personally would have to build my confidence a little at a time. Likewise, whilst I personally would have preferred to go at Give A Brick full speed, others in the team needed more time. Had we gone for the all or nothing approach, we’d be long gone by now!

Hey Eleanor,
Yeah good point people are different. For me though I always have to do it and deal with it while the ball is rolling.
Good point about working in a team though, you are only as strong as your weakest link!
