We all have fears of some kind. Some are greater than others but ultimately they’re still there. I personally fear spiders as you might know from my Goals4Individuals site. I wrote one massive article there and some of it talks about only fearing fear itself. However, what if fear is a good thing for us all that we’re actually over looking?
Stop And Think
I should really take my own advice here and maybe I just will because if we let fear make us stop and think, we’re actually doing ourselves a great favor. What the heck am I talking about here? When you really sit down and think about what fears you have you can get to know yourself better and realise where you need to work on some things if you even want to get passed them. We shouldn’t let fear stop us and yet so many of us do. It’s something I believe we all deal with at some point in time.
Action Plan
Creating an action plan for what you literally want to do to get past those fears you have in some way that allows you to still be comfortable is good. Once you’re comfortable just a bit with where you are you can work on getting a bit more uncomfortable and eventually you’ll have ridden the fear off just a bit if not a lot! You just have to have something set out that you know you want to do and are willing to do.
That last part is important. If you want to do something, that’s great. However, it’s what you’re willing to do that will get you the farthest. Think about that, really!
Let Go, Move On
In order to rid yourself of things that make you fearful and create chains in your life you need to learn to let go of the fear once you’ve conqured it and learn to move on so you can conqur something else and keep doing so as you live life. This will create something inside you that makes you always want to keep moving on and letting go of negative things in your life by learning and doing new things and will definitely open your eyes to things. You will also understand that you’re only afraid because of what you’re really unaware of, or, fear itself.
That’s just it, and once you read this I would like you to honestly answer this question in the comments below… It’s what you’re actually unaware of in life that you’re afraid of. Not what you’re aware of. Some things may keep you from moving on that you ARE aware of but it’s what you’re NOT doing or Unaware of that’s keeping you from actually going forward.
Brighter New Life
We’re all in search of this on any level. More money. More friends. More free time. A better blog. Making money from our blog. Okay! Use all of these things I’ve talked about here and you’ll have that greater and brighter new life right there in front of you. You can’t see that happening and your’e actually taking action? That’s why it’s called time. Things take time and once you understand that and keep going and never give up, things will never look dark again.
Take what you may have learned here and apply it in your new life and I honestly would love to know what you are doing and where you’re going.

Most of the things I’ve been afraid of in my life have not even been real. They’ve all been connected to some doomsday scenario I’ve created in my head. What I try to do now is move towards my goals a little step at a time, not worrying about the whole trip but just the part in front of me.

Taking small steps towards what you’re working for is important. Sometimes looking at the big goal is not good and it’s better to not fear it but look forward to each step you take.

To overcome my fears in some issues i would always like to complete those first & look at the other later. This gives me a lot of confidence to complete the remaining tasks effectively & at the same time enjoying them..

Sometimes it’s much better to pick and choose which steps to take towards what you’re working for.

I once told someone that if we didn’t fear certain things in life, we’d all be ready to just jump into anything whether it be for our good or not. For example, if we didn’t fear death, so many more people would be jumping in front of busses, drowning themselves and other suicide associated activities. We need a certain level of fear for survival. Period.
Eric this was a wonderful, thought-provoking post. Thanks for sharing it!

You’re so right. Fear is what keeps the spark going inside of us… It’s overcoming fears in order to be able to accomplish certain things in life that makes life worth living. We just have to understand that some fears are there for a reason and keep going.

Fear can be crippling, but it can also motivate you. Usually, there is a choice, and choosing to stop and think (as you say) is really important.
Of course, sometimes people will just stay at that point and not move forward. Making a plan is surely important, and sometimes we need to force ourselves to act on that plan.
In the end, fear can help us to make better decisions, just make sure that it does not stop you from making them.
Thanks for the post – it is helping me to make a decision right now, actually. By the way, the picture of a very confused guy in a mask is funny.
Have a great day!

Fear can be a very powerful took and I really think you’re spot on here with how some people stay at the level of never actually acting on things and instead just planning without acting.
You’ve got to have a plan but a plan without action is worthless and a waste of time.

I have found that the things I have been most fearful in life have often been the easiest things to deal with. Yet the things that I have never even paid a second glance to are the things that I should really have been worried about!
Top advice my friend. Taking a step back and taking a look at the situation allows you to plan for success, rather than just jumping in feet first and hoping for the best.

You never know what’s going to happen in life and yet it’s still good to plan. Just going for it isn’t always the smartest decision. Acting on what you have planned and going along with your fears you sometimes realize that what was scary isn’t actually all that bad.

Great post!
I love how you mentioned that what we’re really fearing is fear itself. You said it best, it’s very important for us to not get stuck on fear but to move on to something else challenging. In order to progress in life, we can’t get stuck and complacent on fear. Thanks for sharing, very thought provoking post!!
If we let fear itself guide us we’re all doomed. If we act on the fear and realize that life is out there for the taking and fear is just wondering what MIGHT happen then we’re in a much better position to progress in our own lives.

Fear, fear – the eternal party pooper
I always tried to control it, but that proved hopeless – I’m trying to turn it into my best friend now, and the relationships seems to evolve ,)
Seriously, instead of drowning it I try to use, as it can be a brilliant guide and alert system if kept under a special level !

Making sure fear is always in the back seat and going after things can open up many doors for us in life and bring many great people to use also.

I guess fear is what stops most people most of the time. Fear of not knowing what is going to happen – fear of not being able to control your life. It’s important to be able to control your fear and to use it in a good way.
Fear can be used as good if used correctly. If you fear being broke, getting a job and saving a lot of money can be inspiring and will keep you going. Fear can be something that gets us off our butt and doing something good.

One of my biggest fears is rejection, but I am working on getting past that. I can’t ever make it as a writer if I don’t write and don’t get myself out there and being read. Using that fear to let myself realize that I will always wallow in never knowing motivated me to actually write my novel.

I have many fears and it sounds like you know your fears well. Getting out there and doing it and realizing what it takes to overcome those fears is great. Each day things will get easier.

Hi Eric.
I have many fears but I admit that most of them have been created by only myself. I’m now starting to think more positive and always remind myself that I should be helping myself out. I also try not to think too much as my fears are often caused by this activity.

A lot of times I’ve noticed my fears make me think too much about what I “might” be afraid of and I never actually get out there and go after it. That often leads me to believe that I’m only fearing something my own mind has created and by doing it I realise it’s not as bad as I thought and things go much smoother next time also.

I too am afraid of spiders, but it is the fear of others, fear of being rejected and fear of what others think that have more control over me than they should. I’m slowly leaning to rise above or simply leave behind the fear. As for fears I’m unaware of, I have no idea!

Mo,
I can definitely relate to you on the fear of being rejected and all. I am afraid of sometimes going out in public for what others might think of me but I realize that I’m great in my own way and they can accept me or leave me. If they leave me, they weren’t good for me to begin with.
I think though that the biggest fear I actually have is driving in unfamiliar places. It’s almost something literal I can’t do.
Thanks for the comment!
