Interview With Maren Kate EscapingThe9to5.com

OK I have people I follow quite closely, could be to get ideas or inspiration, sometimes though it’s purely for my own drive. I thrive off competition, not in a way that I have to beat the other person, but in a way if they are doing it, I need to as well.

One of those people is Maren Kate from EscapingThe9to5.com. Maren is one of those serial entrepreneurs who absolutely kills it. Maren is one of the most inventive and hard working people I have come across. I asked her 6 questions;

  1. What don’t you like about working for someone else?
  2. What is the dream? What is all your work geared towards?
  3. What is the single greatest day of your entrepreneur career?
  4. You are becoming a great role model for entrepreneurs, how does that make you feel?
  5. If you could work with anyone who would it be?
  6. In your spare time is it all adrenaline or chilled?

Maren talks about her passion for work, why she wouldn’t be very good in the military and why Bora Bora could cause the ultimate question;

If you love your ideas and alternative ways to make a living online, no waffle, no sales pitch just awesome friendly advice from someone who is killing it at the moment, then visit EscapingThe9to5.com. Below is a video of Maren’s in which she plans to get an Escalade for free.

    James, I can’t watch the video here at work, it’s being blocked :( That blows.

    I’ll have to give it another shot later tonight. I”m sure it’s entertaining!

  2. Great work James in getting this interview.
    Working for yourself is all about freedom from having someone breathe down your neck telling you what to do every 5 minutes.

    Great way of interviewing. Just wondering what software did you use to record the video?

    Another great blog to follow .

    Thanks James

    Awesome interview.

    “Square footage wise” I love it.

    I never thought to ask for something like an Escalade. I’ll start thinking.

  5. Mars Dorian says:

    Cool Interview,

    I like her style. A lot :9

    There’s something off-beat about her, and she doesn’t have that average flavor like 99% of the online world population.

    Thanx for the interview, James :)

  6. Jim says:

    Great interview. Maren seems way calm for someone that says she’s wired.

    When do we get to set the Escalade in all it’s bumper-sticker glory?

  7. Great video Maren! I have really enjoyed your site and it was great to see some insight to your mind and beyond the site. I look forward to lerning more! Good luck with the Escalade.

  8. Great interview! Though I’m still trying to figure out Seth Godin. I’ve read 3 of his books (almost finished with Tribes right now). His ideas are absolutely genius. But I’m more of a step-by-step plan kind of guy. Unfortunately, he’s one of those people who forces you to think…

    Anyway Maren, good to hear some of what makes you tick.

  9. Eric says:

    Good interview, and I also want to be free and figure out how to go about making money through the Internet and last but not least, black. Just a thought there for the color.

  10. “I cannot stand having someone look over my shoulder, breathing down my neck and telling me how to do things the wrong way…”

    Really? I LOVE all of that stuff. Just not in a work environment… its gota be in a bedroom and she has to be in sexy lingerie! ;)
    [heh, couldn't resist... made it too easy]

    But good interview, its particularly scary how u learnt affiliate marketing in a coffee shop during night time, since a coffee shop is where I was at when I got my first affiliate for my book. So hats off to you, fellow insomniac.
