In 18 Days I have …..
I like doing these posts every few weeks or so, I think it’s good to show what can be done and more importantly what needs to be done. Obviously this is all my opinion, I’m not an expert of any sort, but the way I do it, really is working for me.
So I’ll break it down to show exactly what I have done this month so far and talk a bit about why it’s the reason I’m where I am;
- Guest Posts
A big part of my plans over the next few months and I’ve been going guest post mental, Still have 5 to send out from my list and about another 2 or 3 to other sites. I don’t always stay within my market place as my post for FitJerk clearly shows, but because I’m about motivation as well as drawing in more traffic, I think it’s a great strategy.
FitJerk – A military workout, The right of passage
BigRedTomato – Break the mold and do it
6aliens – The only route to success is hard work
ilcantone – How to stay motivated for the long haul
thoughtsongod – It’s more than CommentLuv we need to share
donpower – Write and promote, write and promote
socialphototalk – I Don’t know what you mean
wassupblog – The importance of readers
I have also wrote three other guest posts for, Sackledmuse, Extreme John and for David Risley.
- Posts
32 Post published.
1,067 Comments left on the posts.
156 emails sent replying to questions for advice or help.
- Ideas
I have decided to start work on my book, a huge challenge which I’m loving. Hopefully it will be ready by April.
- Promotion
I was interviewed by DragonBlogger, also interviewed by Paul Cunningham which will be published soon. I have been mentioned by Maria, Eric from BluePop13 and TravisMorgan
- Results
My Alexa ranking for the month is now 53,610 with a 3 month average of 88,439, on the 27th of October it was 8,500,000. This month so far I have had a record amount of guest posts sent in (56) of which some have been respectfully rejected due to various reason and the others have been published or will be later this month. I’m getting a lot more interest for websites reference interviews and guest posts etc which is great for raising the profile of the site.
So what do you take from all this? as I said at the start of this post, I’m no expert and certainly no guru, but what I have done and the way I have done it in the last few weeks has worked for me.
Could you implement any of this?
Could you guest post more, comment more and write more?
What does everyone think?

You’ve done it again. You’ve read my mind! I’ve just been singing your praises over at my place saying how effective your methods are and here you go and prove it
I also find it very exciting that your Alexa rating when you started was the same as ours when we started 14 days ago. It encourages me that this can be done.

Alexa ranking is just a bit of fun for me really, It’s just a nice little way of tracking.
I told you i’m in your office with Dr Egg… Love that name

Cool
It’s actually a nickname a co-worker of my husband’s gave him years ago as a bit of a private joke. It was never meant for Dr Egg’s ears. But I told him and he loved it!
Next weekend I’m plaiting his hair to get some publicity shots to use when I approach the local papers. Will put some up on the blog too

Absolutely tremendous that you are in 18 days where it took me almost a year to be at. Do you blog full time James, or do you have a day job as well? Trying to figure out where you find all the time to blog? I know myself, with a full 60 hour per week job, wife and two kids under 7. I can barely find two hours a night to blog and a few hours on the weekend. I should do a post like this for my blog, I do far less commenting and promotion than you, but write more content (about 70 posts and 30 poems per month), but as I mentioned, this is spread across 3 blogs.

Hey James, thanks for the mention,
You really are doing it man.
You’ve inspired me to do more in my life. Anything can be done if you put your mind to it and you can always find time to do what’s important to you.
Great job, truly looking forward to the book.

James, this is great.
I think it’s useful to keep checking in against your goals and making them public like you have only makes you keep at them.
You’ve achieved a tremendous amount, averaging 60 comments a day on blogs. Amazing;
It was a pleasure to guest post for you!

You’ve done very well James and no I could not keep up with you and have no intention of even trying. More power to you.
As to guest posts, I know how advantageous they are but I just don’t have the time to write them so I’ll leave it for you guys.

OMG – Sire – this will make no sense to you of course but your comment sounded just like my eldest bro. Why am I telling you this on James’ blog ? No idea..just happened to be doing a driveby.
Also finally figured out Alexa today and got http://donpower.me verified. I was pleasantly suprised – I thought I’d be back in the 9 digit realm but I’m 325K worldwide and 65K US. Not too shabby for a relatively new blog and not having a clue what I’m doing!
Now if only I could get Keith’s last post out of my head (top 10% of bloggers only making $19,000/yr and up!) Hahahah!
Cheers – sorry if I comandeered your comments James!

Good work on the post homie, looks like you’re killing it in niche’s OUTSIDE your own. Something I personally practice/preach.

I haven’t really wanted to talk stats because after more than a year, they don’t show any growth but I guess they are growing when I ignore them either. I need to make some bold commitments and then keep them if I want to keep up.

I’ve only ever gone outside my niche when writing guest posts. I find that I want to write about my niche on my blog, but still have a lot to write about in the problogging niche. All exposure is good in the early stages. As you grow bigger, you can focus more on your own niche.

Hm… can I implement your methods… Not bloody likely! You do an amazing job James, even with so much on your plate, but I think that if I tried to do what you do in the quantities you do I’d miss out on a lot of what makes life fun for me (sleeping, being one of those
).
I think you’re right about guest posting though; should really get on with that! Probably going to leave it for another couple of weeks though, since I’m currently trying to finish off college work from first semester (a la my latest blog post).
Your comment stats are incredible though, as always.
