OK so you have all this amazing information, Its absolutely vital people read it if they want to get ahead of the game, but your readers jump ship after one page, why is that?
One of the reason’s could be your not entertaining them;
- Pin them to the seat
Grip your readers and give them so much valuable content they need to keep reading, bookmark it, before there computer crashes through excitement, ‘I need to read more, no wait whats that, Jesus this is amazing‘ But break it down in easy to read chucks. I have dyslexia and struggle to read great big paragraphs and to be honest I will close the page if I see it set out like that.
- Tickle them
Having amazing content is great but if its too heavy for your readers, they will turn off. Make it light hearted, throw in the odd analogy that they can relate to and make it easier to understand the point your making, throw in the odd joke, but don’t go over board otherwise you’ll be the drunk uncle at Christmas making everyone stare at the floor wishing they could leave!
- Shock and Awe
Hit your followers with shocking titles and content they have never ever seen before. Information they will want to pass onto their friends and return to to re-read in case they missed anything.
- K.I.S.S
Keep It Simple Stupid, There is nothing more boring that a 10,000 word article that never gets to the point, and is so difficult to read you end up googling words just to keep up. I write exactly how I speak, and hopefully (it has been so far) it’s easy for you to read.
Very simple rules to keep your site entertaining, have fun with it, Your website is an electronic voice (Note: Not like Stephen Hawking, but an extension of you in the digital web space… But you knew that… OK moving on) so do it with passion and relax!
big shout to Dave who gave me the title for this post.
What do you guys think?

I love that picture! I also type the way I talk…or rather the way the voice in my head talks. lol! I often don’t even make any notes, I just start typing and see where it takes me. I guess I do ramble on sometimes, but lately I’ve been trying out lists, and bolding main points. I know that when I am looking up information, like a recipe, I tend to skim through things and look at main points. But if I go to a site because the person interests me (whether it’s someone I know, or a twitter contact), I’ll spend more time and sometimes linger over their every word.
Balanceinme.com really hooked me the other day. I couldn’t quit reading her posts, and adding my comments! She’s got a nice layout, minimalist and zen, and the most amazing pictures.
Great coaching. As a beginner, and being a quality-driven person, I knew I was so afraid of critcism that I simply had to just start and do my artistic best, not trying to get feedback until I could show myself that I could get past the technological learning curves and worry about what others think. Looking at this as my art, which is my passion, I was able to allow myself to make many mistakes as nobody was watching. After a few months now, I still am not ready to really launch, but I am making a few comments here and there ( mostly on your site) and ready to start honing it all. This article is a fine example of what I believe us new bloggers or internet marketers or online writers need to hear. Thank you, again.
This picture is what really stands out! So cute and adorable…artical is also great, as always.

Shock, but not in a bad way. I have seen bloggers lose fan base by doing something “out of character” for their blog for shock value. That cat in the pic looks like my orange Persian I had growing up.
