Well, if you and Risley are going to continue this “bro-mance” thing, I am going to have to distance myself from both of you!

Over the last couple of years I have reevaluated my relationships and made some changes. I love being with positive, supportive people who also challenge me to do my best. While I still treat everyone with kindness and respect, I am extremely careful about spending much time with naysayers and drama queens.

Valuable advice. Failure or success is indeed mostly based on the mindset you have. Which will, at times, be influenced by the people around you.

Your videos are starting to get more professional by the way, with the graphic effects at the end. Keep it up!

Following the people who are doing it and who are almost doing it is good advice. I also think that your strategy of saving what you learn from those people and deleting the rest and using that info to make things work for you is a good way to handle information overload also.

Videos are looking great and things are progressing nicely for you.

I think that it is only human to learn by watching other people. I have only gotten into blogging recently, but have been in business for a while.

I can tell you that, for me, finding a mentor (in one form or another) is really important. Also, if you want to be successful, it is always a good thing to like what you do. I know that is a cliche at this point, but there is a reason that everyone says it.

So, who are the right people then? For me, they are the people that I get along with the most in a specific areana. So far, I have met MANY great people doing blogging, and other types of on-line businesses.

    Have a great day!

Another related thing to consider is to never mistake the message for the messenger.

I see this too often: people look at *who* is talking instead of evaluating what is being said.

Life in the monkey pack I guess.

    • That is a spot on observation and something that can be related to the sort of pack ‘hive’ mentality when people spread content to be cool by association without actually reading it or implementing the advice

  7. I believe you hit the nail straight on the head James. It’s imperative, in my book, to surround yourself around people who will encourage and motivate you whether it be in real life (direct) or online (indirect). Thanks for sharing!!

It’s really something that’s applicable in life in general. Surrounding yourself with positive influences and associations is a key fundamental to success.

The late Jim Rohn said you should take a successful person for dinner and spend the evening talking about them and quizzing them about their life / successes
