Are You Pretending Or Are You Really Serious About This?

I’m writing this 20 minutes after my phone call with Chris Ducker about a Joint Venture we’re working on, more on this in the coming weeks. The thing I like about Chris is he is committed, he takes action after making a plan and that got me thinking about my own situation and the situations of people who contact me via email asking for help and advice.

Now I’m scarily passionate about my goal, some would call it obsessed to the point of being .. well Obsessed, my point is I know my goal and I’m working flat out to achieve it, I shared with Chris my goal time line this morning and it’s tight but do-able.

The focus of this site hasn’t changed from it’s original pivot massively, it’s just thinking in broader terms to allow more of your questions to be answered while motivating the hell out of you to get it done. The point of this post is to focus on your goals and everyone else’s, are you really serious about achieving them or are you playing?

  • Work

Most of the people who contact me or visit this site looking for tips and hints to increase their traffic are holding down a job, sometimes two jobs whilst working on their empire. You have to have money coming in to pay the bills right? But how do you actually put yourself in a position to be able to make that leap?

Quite simply you have to increase your hours, you have to increase the amount of time you put in, now I say this a lot I know I do but it’s absolutely true you have to work harder and put more effort in if you ever want to leave the shackles of working for someone else.

Doing it on someone else’s dollar is a safe move, but you have to actually do it, you can’t ever stand on your own feet unless you put yourself into a position where you earn your own money and it’s more than enough to live off.

  • Belief

The position I am in now is the exact situation I suspect most of you are nearing or in yourself, let me tell you right now, if you don’t truly believe you can and will do it, then you will struggle to actually make any progress in the right direction.

Take some holidays from work and use that time to build on your foundations and start turning it into a business, start focusing your whole mind set into turning all your work into a business if that’s your goal. You have to believe you are going to achieve your goals.

  • Reality

Now a lot of people, some very well placed to hand out such advise say my goals are un-realistic, do I listen? Mostly no, I do bear things in mind though as it’s important to actually set goals you fully believe are achievable even though very difficult.

For instance I wouldn’t make a goal of making a million dollars a day starting tomorrow, that even for me is a bit of a stretch, that said if you want to earn $10,000 a week then go for it, but make sure you actually follow through with your plans of achieving this success.

Working hard to achieve your goals is a must, but are you willing to invest to achieve them? That is a question most bloggers/internet marketers neglect to ask, or answer….

I have a VERY strong feeling that your deadline is about the right time you need to make this thing happen for yourself, and for your family.

Being a father makes us even more passionate about what we do for a living (or, it should do anyway!). I know I simply would not be the person I am, with what I have achieved, and what I am going to STILL achieve, if I didnt have that motivation.

Not only am I looking forward to our JV (and it’s gonna be awesome, guys, we promise!), but I am absolutely looking forward to seeing you realize your own personal goals, too.

Make it happen, brother. Make it happen.

    Chat soon!
    Chris

I have no idea who Chris Ducker is, but you’re blaizing the trail here James. I can’t wait to see more and more of your projects completed and taking this site to a whole new level.

  5. I find that it’s easier to be serious about achieving your goals when you skip announcing them to the world, write them down on paper, and start working towards them. People will think you’re a bit crazy. When I tell people I blog, that give me that crazy look like, “for what?” They don’t understand it’s a piece of the puzzle to achieving my goals.
But you’re right – if you don’t believe you can do it, they chances are you won’t.
I know I can do it, it’s just a matter of pressing forward. Some days are slower than others, but even small progress, is still progress.

Great inspiring tips, James. Sometimes it’s really hard to keep going but if you keep your eyes focused on your goals, achievable ones for that matter, and keep going even in hard times, you will definitely get there but also you must have patience :) .

Believing is probably the most important part of this whole thing besides taking real action. If you don’t believe and you’re taking action then there’s really not point. If you DO believe and you’re taking action, go as far as you want to and never give up.

You just gotta believe and then go after what you want!

Having goals and big dreams is what makes life so fun. Acting on those is what makes life worth living. That’s a quote by me.

  9. Serious! Spending everyday on my site for years, writing, editing, tweaking, doing something that helps my visitors and google know what I’m about. Plus, spending money on the site, investing in my eBook, buying products to review. It all adds up. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t truly believe in it.

  10. Work harder James? Or work smarter? What cash producing activities can you outsource?

    • Hi Jade, good question I think it’s a combination of both, you do have to work harder to get more done, but you have to be clever about where you’re focusing that energy. Funny you should mention outsourcing it’s a question I’ve been asking a lot of people lately

  11. I totally agree, James. It can be a tough thing to juggle 2 jobs but one has to definitely put in more time in order to gain ground in this business. It all comes down to having a business mindset and understanding the importance of investing time.

    Thanks for sharing!!

  12. Awesome post James. Really encouraged me.

What many people do not realise that it does take loads of hard work and patience in the beginning. Nothing comes for free.
So many bloggers expect to reach 10 000 readers with out the blood sweat and tears.

Passion is also a big one. Putting in the extra hours, going the extra mile, being committed all derives from passion.

you also have to face the fact that sometimes, people, including those who are close to you, may not believe in you and what you are trying to do. This is one of the toughest tests in attaining a goal, but overcoming it is still possible. You just have to be in the right mindset.
