A Change In Attitude

Writing great content, replying and leaving great comments are fantastic ways to build traffic, it’s the exact way I do it, but if you want a business and earn a full time income online I have learnt you have to change your attitude to it all.

I’m not talking about the attitude to other websites in the market or the opinions of others here;

While you need to do those things to build traffic and reader loyalty, you also need to think beyond this and for me this was the key to everything;

I’ve also included a video from my Exclusive collection (which isn’t on YouTube), which only the members of my mailing list get access too;

    James! I love the way you do it!
    “Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change”
    It’s my favourite saying and very relevant to your post. I totally agree and I remember reading those posts you refer to and thinking ‘yeah, you’re gonna win with that attitude mate’. Funny thing is, the first thing that went through my mind was, “I’m not going to win, I have only been at it for 3 months and I could have done more in hindsight” Funny thing is, maybe I was in with a chance, but my attitude decided early on that this was not going to be the case.
    Thanks for a timely post – I’ve had a rough day.

    • Hey brother,

      I love that quote, might have to start using it at some point.

      Exactly right, think about when you approach a traffic jam, if all you think about is traffic and how you’re going to be stuck for ages, then you will be in it for hours, but if you look for a space to weave into and progress through it spaces will appear.

      I do that every day

    Well, I want to do it all . . . great content for readers, a thriving community, and a healthy business. My business goals are a bit different because much of my plan is based around my writing and communication skills and leveraging those. I’m anxious to hear what Jonathon Fields says in Leo’s bootcamp because he’s going to be talking about consulting, as well as other options outside the realm of traditional internet marketing. I definitely want to have my eggs in a few different baskets so am working to structure things accordingly. No matter what route a person takes, your advice is right on target.

    • Hey Jean did you check the exclusive video out from the mailing list? It’s based on your email to me the other day, hopefully it will help too

      • Jean Sarauer says:

        I watched it right away, James, and that, as well as all the other information you’ve been sharing, is factoring into decisions I’m making now. It definitely does help because you’re far enough along now that you can see things from the business perspective and see where the revenue actually comes from. I like your thoughts on valuing and rewarding the loyal community that is your core but always (always!) seeking out new visitors.

    Your passion and your work ethic are amazing James. It’s obvious why you are successful and reminds us to just get out there and do something. Even if we do it wrong, we need to do something and learn from it.

    Hey James,
    awesome job winning the book. I have one as well, and it was a great, quick read. Granted, I didn’t win one at DR site. :) That’s ok.

    What you are saying is definately along the lines I’ve what I’ve been taking away from some coaching I’ve been getting. Providing great content is awesome, however we always need to keep our eyes on the goals. I do think that to a large extent, a lot of it though will naturally fall into our laps.

    Great vid,

    • Brandon you’re right man, keep pushing, keep working hard and it does come to you.

      It’s a mind set that some don’t have, you just have to keep going, non of the super affiliates or probloggers, suddenly set a website up and within 10 minutes became millionaires, they work at it every day.

    Attitude is everything, as you say James.

    If you feel like you’re not getting ahead or are hitting your head against the wall, then maybe you need to adjust you attitude and how you are going about your blogging. Try something new and see what works. Change your attitude. Ignore reality, if you have to :-)

    Thanks,
    Karen

    I often have this thought when I look at myself: “eh, I think I don’t need to change my attitude.” But I realize that times change, and so should our attitude. What worked a few months ago may not be good for today or tomorrow.

  7. Keith says:

    Dude, looks like you have bags under your eyes, are you pulling a four hour sleep week on me?

    I agree with this, but make sure you keep your own persona too, and don’t be afraid to rant once in awhile (I am going to right now at my site….)

  8. You are so right, James. Attitude is key. Attitude helps determine your altitude and where you’re going. We have to make the choice to not allow little petty things to get in the way of our destiny. We can’t throw a pity party, we must remain positive.

    Thanks so much for sharing and reminding us of this!

  9. lol, I agree with Keith. No sleep? :)

    Congrats on winning the book. I’ve been thinking about buying the book, but I don’t know if I would have time to read it. I’ve been busting my butt with reviews, writing posts, taking pictures, photoshopping. I’m tired. ha! Maybe I have bags under my own eyes? That’s something I need to change. ;)

  10. Eric says:

    You absolutely have to change the way you look at your site if you want to make a business, a real business out of it. I’m looking at making money from my site by providing amazing content and completely over delivering here very soon. No details yet! :)

    Posting comments and posting articles is great but is not the only thing that has to be done, that’s true. There’s much more which is why having a plan and schedule and working fast and smart is vital to keep your site on top of where it should be.

    Great videos and by the way dude I saw the secret from your second video through the mailing list… Totally worth checking out. :)
