In life there are many directions you can go. So many in fact that trying to decide what you want to do with your life can be quite confusing and you might decide you like doing more than one job or career.
That being said, I’m sure some people wish there was a way they could actually achieve all they want to in their life as they discover what it is they’re truly passionate about doing. After all, we all want to be a part of the action and prove we’re worth something in order to gain something more in life than we already have. Am I right?
Today
In order to make sure you achieve what you want in life you really should know exactly where you are and what all you have. You have to know and understand yourself inside and out. Look at what your life looks like in all different ways and figure out who you are and where your life currently is. This doesn’t have to take very long, in fact, it can take a few minutes a day to evaluate. The reason for this? To know where you are so you can look forward to where exactly you want to be.
Looking Forward
Now simply figure out exactly what it is you want out of life. Never hold back because holding back is a ridiculous idea that will serve no positive purpose in your life. Make sure to write down or type out where you want to be and how you want to get there. I’m not going to go into specifics here because it should be obvious how to do this. It may not be obvious what you choose but it’s obvious how to do this. Look into the future and decide what you want your future to look like.
When You Have Arrived And Where To Go From There
The feeling of accomplishing what you want out of life is great. You’ll know because you’ll have hopefully kept track of things as you go through life and enjoy the moments and what you achieve. When you get there you’ll just feel it and you also will have new goals set out for yourself. Things are always changing which really requires keeping track of how things are but that’s what makes life so much fun and enjoyable.

That all being said, do you know what life you’re living in the future?

It’s funny, I just realized that I am doing what I want, not asking for more, achieving my goals, I did, I wrote three books now, love my job and still interact when I can here. I am content with what I have for the first time in my life and I know that If…i never find love again. SO BE IT! I will live. Great reminders Blue.

Thanks!
Glad to hear you’re doing so good and you’ve found that place in your life.

Such good advice…even if you’re just daydreaming, you should definitely think about where you want to be. Even if your ultimate goal is something you don’t think you can achieve, just having it in mind changes your whole thought process.
I set some pretty serious goals recently, after just this kind of thinking. Ever since really laying it out and deciding what it is I want, everything has seemed so much simpler.
Absolutely… After all, what’s the point in not having big dreams? There is none. Our perspective on life changes dramatically when we think big and go after it, even knowing the fact that we never may get it. Just the want and the action are sometimes enough to keep us at it and make us happy.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but I think if you have some goals lined up, then it doesn’t really matter where you’ve been only where you’re headed. If you look in the past or only consider what skills you have then you just hold yourself back. What do you think?

Very true though looking in the past you can definitely see how far you’ve come and what you have accomplished in life. Though it can also be a very dangerous situation if you’re not careful because you can look back and get stuck in what was.
Very good advice there.

Hi Eric,
The problem happens when you have so many choices in life and could do so many things that it sort of paralyzes you from taking one path. After all, what if you made a mistake and chose the wrong way?
It’s important to remembeer that even though there are so many options in life, you have to choose what’s important to you and your values. No one can live your life so take both YOUR past and what you want for YOUR future into consideration.
There’s also something to be said for not knowing exactly where you’re going so that you are adaptable and allow for life’s little surprises to happen along the way.

Writing down where I want to be, where I want to go, that kind of thing, is something I simply do not do enough of. Why? Laziness mainly, or more likely just a lack of self-belief. But I will do so today, you’ve spurned me on.
