Man, What a great first post indeed. Everyone keeps setting their bars higher and higher. I love it. :)
To all the TIP team...absolutely great stuff. You guys are absolutely rocking. I "previewed" Chris's video the other day and it is fantastic. Very good camera poise, and emotion. Great stuff. Looking forward to more Chris!

Hey mate, welcome onboard.

Really like the post. You speak the truth! So many people think that just because you have something to sell online that people will actually just start buying it.

As you said, it's all about driving traffic, developing a relationship, and starting small (turning people into big spenders over time).

Looking forward to hearing more from you mate!

Julius,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, working with other site owners to help benefit each other by banding together is one of the most powerful strategies on the net. It's one of the main things that all of the top marketer have in common.

This is a good summary of what should be done to start an information product. I also think that working closely with other site owners helps in promoting your site and product, and it can provide numerous good connections.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the great feedback on my first post here. I was at the beach all day working on my business... you can't beat the internet lifestyle!

@Alex -Thanks for the great welcome
@ Dev - Good to have you here as well
@Jess - Information products make great residual income in addition to having a service business. They are like having little oil wells working for you silently in the background, making money 24/7/365

@Michael -That is a complicated question that totally depends on the size of the project and what you want to accomplish. So far, my quickest project only took my 5-6 days from research to complete web site ready to go (but I was a total animal on that project). My longest project took me 3 years on and off.

I think that you should be able to finish almost any project in 1-2 months. If it takes longer than that, it's probably due to procrastination.

@Anne- I understand where you are coming from and people like me need people like you to spread our stuff all over the internet.

@Karen- The thing about people never buying philosophy came from the late, great direct marketing master, Gary Halbert. If he says it, I listen. It's totally true. Just think about the last info product that caught your eye.

@Richard -Point taken. It's just a tool that I heard about just a few days ago, so I thought I would let other people know about it, since it was free. I got nothing for recommending it. It's a lot quicker than using SEO techniques the hard way.

I like the post. It's so true. You bring up a lot of great points. I do find it difficult to take you seriously though when your advice is to use a tool (is my site indexed) that you have never used before. How can you build trust with your readers by doing that? Just curious.

Hi Joshua,

Welcome to the team and you hit it out the park with this post! Way to go to give some useful information and motivation for us infopreneurs.

I think you mention a great point about giving people what they want, not what you want to give them. If there's no market for your product and it doesn't solve a problem for someone else, then it won't sell. I never really thought about it, but trying to sell philosophy doesn't work - people need step-by-step instructions or at least a guideline to follow that will help them solve a problem that they have been struggling with.

Excellent advice.

Very good post - sounds tempting, but I prefer to skip the first three steps and just market other people's e-products for a hefty commission ;) Not saying I'll never venture into producing one, just that it's a bit too time consuming for me at this point.

Joshua, what time frame would you put on this process? From the keyword research to the point where you are ready to go back to step 1? I guess it varies a bit but would you say 3 months, more or less, based on your experience?
