Where Does Fear Lead Your Business?

Eric

Fear can do many things. One thing it’s

good at is making you think about where you’d rather like to be over

where you’re at right now. This can be great for business because

it’s showing you that you’re uncomfortable with where you are and

that you want to make a change to get somewhere else.

Question is, where else is it leading

your blog or business to exactly?

The Pit

Fear can easily lead you to disaster and drive you right down into the

pit. You’ll be afraid to take any chances or challenges that are put

in front of you and ultimately will lack improvement on all levels.

Don’t let this happen because in my opinion this is one of the

reasons so many business fail early on. Take a chance because without

doing so you’ll just end up falling down and never getting back up.

Above Land

Taking a few chances here and there are good because you might mess up a

lot. Learn from those mistakes and keep at it. Doing so will keep you

above land and able to see what’s coming next (or not) and even if

you don’t see what’s next, you’ll be stronger than before and ready

for the next take on things. Keep in mind that you’ve got to keep

going because consitency and learning and not giving up is allowing

you to keep this position active so that you’re not falling too far.

You don’t want to just be at this point forever though…

The Sky

You want to be here, in the sky, always rising above the competition by

doing things no one else is doing. Having enough fear will keep you

going to the point that you’ll learn so much and keep seeing where

success lies that you’ll be able to rise and keep rising and learn

the ins and outs of what makes your business rock solid.

Having

enough fear in business can literally make you or break you, and your

business.

What is fear doing to your business?
Thanks!

Eric

Fear is my traveling companion these days. It doesn’t really bother me because it’s mild and just pops up when I try something new. For me it’s generally a sign that I’m about to step out of my comfort zone, and that’s a good thing.

Yeah fear usually creaps up when were trying something new but after a while we get used to it and things work out as time goes on. I think fear is a good thing because the more we get used to being out of our comfort zones the better our business and personal life becomes.

  3. Hi Eric,

There’s a great book by Susan Jeffers called ‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’. I love this book because I learned that fear is just a healthy part of life.

As long as you’re alive, you’ll feel fear. Especially if you’re trying something new. So, I just take it for granted that some level of fear is normal. Then, I just push through it.

    Great post.

Hey ERic, nice summary of what fear can do and how to combat it. For me fear appears in the form of comparison, where I start looking at what I should be doing versus what I am actually doing and then I get down on myself and as a result do even less, cetainly something to be aware of so I can make sure I end up in the sky and not the pit.

The key is understanding what drives the fear. For example, there is the fear of being perceived as an “internet marketer” versus the fear of not being able to pay the rent.

One fear is important. The other, not so much!

    Hi Eric,

    I enjoyed reading your post.

A great resource was already mentioned and I will 3rd “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyways” as this is a book that I keep close by when I really need to push through my own fear. There are so many people out there that have the same fears as I do, but are still making things happen. They don’t let fear stand in their way. It’s a great motivational book to read and re-read, when needed. Particularly when you think you are the only one feeling fear.

    Thanks,
