Information products:
It’s interesting how they morph, and how they change over time. From membership sites, to ebooks and paperback books, DVD’s, live seminars, etc. The format for these over time has continued to change over time, but there are many things that are always constant.
The Native Indians delivered information by guiding settlers. In return they received weapons, horses, and clothing materials. Newspapers brought information to doorsteps across the world throughout the 1900′s. Television brings information to this day, and yeah, I guess newspaper do to, but it’s not cutting edge any more. The Internet, and its Information Super Highway, that has been under construction is like a massive 10 lane Beltway going around a city. It keeps getting larger and larger, and as it becomes more commonplace, the world will continue to “get smaller”.
I know a few things with certainty. Jobs of today will slowly die away. Jobs of tomorrow will continue to breed new jobs, and those people that refuse to “up the ante” on their education, will be those left behind. Education will come from information. There are SO MANY potential “business ideas” I see just sitting on the horizon that I know somebody is going to start. I would love to get my own life in order to the point, and have my financial situation where I can just develop an idea, give it to a development team, and they can run with it.
As these jobs die away, people without the right tools and skills will be left poorer. Those who are able to learn how to provide information in the myriad forms and fashions will have the greatest opportunity to profit. In about two weeks, I’ll be officially announcing to the VIP members of this site, an opportunity to learn for yourself the best ways to date of putting together these information products. (If you aren’t a VIP member, subscribe on the right. They will be the only ones who have the opportunity to get in on the discounted “live recording” price). Everyone else WILL pay significantly more.
InfoPreneurs will be the ones left standing at the end of the day. They’ll be the ones “in demand” and will have the tools and skills to deliver information quickly, effectively, and profitably. I believe this with all my heart. Sure, there will be others who are going to do well. Tons of other jobs and business will be profitable, but I’m telling you…the ones who can create the information that people WANT to consume, will always have an income.
Global Competition
Do you know how to do anything technical? Great. You may make it. If not, you are going to need to know how to hire/lead technical folks. I really feel for Americans, in particular, who do not have a high school education, and do not have any desire to get one, or improve themselves. They will be finding out in short order, the actual price that is costing them.
Labor type positions will continue to move to “cheaper labor” regions of the world. Manufacturing jobs which at one time provided nice incomes for Americans will be nearly extinct. I believe other parts of the developed world are seeing this transformation as well, or is it just me?
What do YOU see when you look into the crystal ball? I’m interested in hearing where you think the wave is going to hit?
Talk later InfoPreneurs,
Brandon

It’s an exciting time to be an infopreneur. As your article demonstrated, the way we work and do business is changing, and each day, more people turn to internet opportunities as their personal way forward.
These people are looking for products that will educate them about online opportunities, inspire them to hang on during a steep learning curve, and give them practical steps to apply to create and grow their particular business.
I was writing my thoughts on the ‘next big thing’ and realized my idea was so brilliant that I need to keep it to myself and let it percolate a bit more

Hey Dev,
Thanks for the kudos on the post. I just finished uploading my next post for Monday. It gives a brief glimpse into some of the stuff I’m going to be working on, but it’s a must read post.
TTYL,

Hi Brandon,
I think the common theme for the last 25-30 years is that we are in definitely in the Information Age where your most important skillset is not what you can do with your hands, but what you have between your ears. It’s knowledge and what you do with it that gives you the power to either keep up (or better yet, lead) in the future, rather than being left behind.
But, I do believe that there will always be a place for people for non-knowledge workers, though. As much as the world changes, it doesn’t change as fast as we think it does. If it did, we would all be flying ourselves to work and living on the Moon or something
You definitely have to look to the future and it’s possibilities, rather than bemoan the past and what’s been lost.

Hi Karen!
I agree…there will always be a place for people for non-knowledge workers, etc. However, I think the competition for those positions will be fiercer, leading to lower wages, poorer standard of living, etc. It may take awhile, but as we look at what Outsourcing has done over the past 10 years, it is quite staggering as to the speed that it is changing. Maybe Chris Ducker can chime in here. I think it’s probably on one of those exponential type curves as to how fast it is changing.
I feel the Internet will as it is right now provide many new opportunities to people for jobs in the future. You should at least get the basics of technology if you want to survive in the coming years in my opinion. I’m not saying become a genius as most of us aren’t ourselves but at least understand enough to make sure you’re not completely falling behind.

Nice post Brandon! Technology is absolutly crucial now a days. Every where you go deals with technology and computers and if someone doesn’t have those kinds of skills, then he/she should work on getting those skills. We should always improve ourselves in technology, among other things. Thanks for sharing

It blew my mind reading a report (forgot which, sorry) which said that info products in the eastern world sell nearly 5 – 10x the amount compared to over here in the west.
This should really open your eyes because it shows the progression to how much people are going to become when placing value on information compared to physical products of yesterday.
Get into it now before you miss the wave

Hey Murray,
Good Insights. I’m not sure if you mean physical products as in courses, etc, If so, I actually think that the market for those has just begun as well. I mean, they’ve always been here, but they are going to change and adapt as well. I think physical products have the best bang for the buck. Probably not so much in the online-ordering world (those people want it NOW…and don’t like to wait 1 week for the shipment). Yes, I still buy physical courses online, but probably most want the info now. In presenting seminars, have a physical product on hand would be the ticket, versus online information. The seminar attendees get to walk away with something tangible, versus having to go home…enter order…and download. By that point, you’ve lost the sale.
Great piece, Brandon.
As someone that has 200+ people working for him, you’re right, companies and even one-man-band types will continue to utilize cheaper manpower options – especially if their requirements are big ones. Why wouldn’t they???
For me, personally, as an entrepreneur… As I continue to diversify my own personal income streams, I am going to be looking more and more to the online world. I feel I have amble experience behind me, tons of knowledge to pass on to millions of people and the desire to make it happen – so, the Ducker Digital Empire will be born..!!!
Saying that, I also love brick-n-mortar type businesses. Seeing an empty ‘space’ turn into a bustling, busy facility. Awesome.
Over opened a cool door here, mate. Cheers.
Chris
Hey Chris,
Man, you have so much potential with where you could take some cool stuff with your experiences. I’m really looking forward to what all you share with us over time. I hope that we are also able to help you lift the Ducker Dig Empire off the ground…has a great ring.
I agree with you. By trade I am a mechanic but I am looking for the right price to further my education into social media with my military college fund. That will lead me in my direction but it is not guaranteed. There is so many college graduates out there and the competition for the technical jobs is fierce. In turn those college graduates that can not find a job are forced into the lower paying jobs increasing the competition in that industry even more. I think one day with our population, economy, and citizens with not enough education will drive countries to make hard decisions regarding the populations. What those decisions are I am not sure and how far out I don’t know. This is my own personal opinion and perspective.
On another note great post and I am glad I am a veteran InfoPreneur VIP member

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the in-depth comment. So, when you say you are looking ot further your education in social media using your college fund, does that mean you are looking for a course on social media? Is it something needing to be accredited?
If not, maybe somebody here can refer you something.
Otherwise, I’m keeping my Social Media KISS. Focused.
B
I am not sure if it is needing accredited and I am still undecided on my major. I want it but leaving my options open. If anyone is willing to refer me anything I am more than happy to at least take a look. But like anything if I make it into the Major Leagues a degree never hurts anything. Though I am not completely sure if I can get a degree in that (I haven’t started looking around) and I only have heard that in certain locations offer those courses. Thanks for the reply

I agree Brandon, it is the information and technology age and people need to get on board because there is definitely room for people to profit with this.
I too have so many potential business ideas lurking around in my head and would love that all of them come to fruition and know that it can through my efforts online and it is truly amazing what the world wide web can really do for aspiring entrepreneurs.
You also make a valid point in selling physical products at seminars and would imagine that one would make a killing if they had physical products on hand to sell right then and there.

Hey Anna,
That’s EXACTLY where I’m going with the physical product thing. Granted, i sell some online also, but I really want to do the presentation stuff.
B
Personally, I think information products are just that, a big wave that is going to crash ashore and be gone.
Real products aren’t going anywhere, sure how and where they are manufactured changes, but the need for them isn’t going away. And where do people turn to buy those “real” products? The web.
Keith´s last [type] ..Keep Doing The Same Thing
Hey Keith,
Not saying you aren’t right, cause you never know…but…
I don’t see anything but information products continuing to morph over time, year after year into new forms, new platforms and continue to increase in revenues year after year. I have no doubt in my mind. My post going out tomorrow will help shed some light on some of my thoughts. There will never be a shortage for InfoPreneurs.
I do agree that real products will always have great viability, etc. We are in the same alignment on that one. More and more so also with the internet.
Hi Brandon,
Your post is an excellent wake up call for all of us. We need to give much importance to learning more skills and improving the ones we have, at this information age.
And as we do this through the help of information products, we also have to carefully choose the ones that would be useful for the particular field we want to focus on.
