Offer Something…or Stay Broke…3 “Outside the Box” Tips to Extracting Money from Your Brain

information marketing making money

Earning $$$ Using Your Brain

Please do NOT make the same mistakes I have made.  I want to share with you a few, hmmmm….Revelations I’ve been realizing and discuss them.

Once I got out of my “blogging for the sake of blogging” mode, I really took a cold, hard look at my life and business.  I was hammering away trying to create content, but wasn’t getting any payback, in terms of Dollars in the bank account.  So, I started probing in a few different angles, and some cool things started to happen.

First, every single of us knows something.  Every one of us….and the VALUE of that knowledge is absolutely INCREDIBLE when you start to add it up.  I want to get one thing straight, you can be an information marketer, and get paid for providing products and services, as well as consulting, interviews, expert opinions, and even your Contacts!  Know somebody?  You can get paid for that piece of knowledge if you hit it from different angles.  You KNOW something, and you can turn it into Dough.  People will pay a lot of money to have people who have a particular knowledge on a topic.

Money Extraction Tip#1

I recently was listening to an audio from Fred Gleeck.  Near the end of it, Fred was talking about a presentation he had to perform.  He didn’t really have any information product available tailored to the niche, so he pulled out something that was absolutely brilliant.  He wrote up a Product Sheet and offered 2 Options to the audience.

Option #1: 8 People in the audience could pay to be interviewed and used in an information product.

Option #2: The rest of the audience could pay to buy the 8 interviews.

I think I have the scenario pretty close to how it all unraveled.  Simple, but very powerful when you really look at it.  How many of possible income streams are you missing every single day?  No, I’m not saying extract every bleeding dime out of people’s pockets.  Not saying that at all.  However, if you find a way to provide value, people will begin throwing money at you.

Money Extraction Tip#2

Speaking of people throwing money at you, I’ve been doing a lot of offline service stuff recently.  People are paying me for my information that can help them with their small business internet marketing needs.  Crazy thing is…I’m not sure how big I want to grow that end of things, but it’s probably growing faster than I’d like it to.  I guess that’s a great problem to have.

So, while I’m working on churning out some quality info products, I’m going to work on really breaking down my services and systems for the offline world and how to capitalize upon it.

So, Tip #2, no matter what niche you are in…there is some type of a service you can provide to somebody.  Use it to maybe “hedge” your other business pursuits until you can position yourself well enough, etc.  Most importantly, let people know about your skills….and the services that you can provide for them.

I’m been oil-rig hopping more lately, and I’m still seeing lots of bloggers not monetizing their skills enough.  Market what you have.  Take your knowledge and skills and combine them into a powerful cash stream.  The really cool thing with the “information services” end of things, is that your paydays can come much quicker…and if you set them up properly, can come in the form of continuity.

While 1 time pay days are great….continuity tends to be king. :)

Money Extraction Tip#3

Be a giver.  As I’ve been giving more…I’ve been receiving more.  My goal is to amplify this by a 10X factor in 2011. So, what money extraction tip can I give to you…on being a Giver?  How about give interviews.  I’m really ramping up my interviewing of other people.  I have about 6 scheduled in the next 2 weeks (which is going to be an information product).  Once I get some of these information products completed, I’m going to be looking to workout JV’s with people left and right.  I’m going to look to provide quality webinars to their readers/viewers and help get them paid via affiliate commissions, etc.

Watch for a page in my navigation bar soon for that offer.  I want to strategically work with people to give and receive.  So, as a conclusion to Tip#3…really sit back and think about what it is that you can give.

I’m including a worksheet in the TIP VIP Areas members page to help you figure out your Money Extraction Skills & Knowledge.  Not a member, join the Inner Circle now, and get it for free. ;)

InfoPreneurs, I hope this information helps you, and gets you thinking a little bit outside of the box.  Let me know your thoughts….interested in your inputs on the topic.

I agree, a lot of bloggers get into the trap of just producing, and churning posts thinking that eventually the big payday will come. It doesn’t work that way – if it did, a million ppl would make their living blogging, tell their friends, and millions of people would be stay at home bloggers =)

Hey, by the way…when you had signed up originally…I noticed you were from Cairo. Is that right? man, you’ve got some CRAZY stuff going on over there right now.
Every day when I check CNN is just seems like mass chaos, and people getting hurt left and right. Hopefully you aren’t caught up in the foray.

      Take care,
      Brandon

  3. Thanks, Brandon!
I’ve reached the station where so many “bloggers” have disembarked recently. Some, like me, have landed on the Comments platform, while others, like you, have walked onto the Feel-good blogging platform. Either way, we’ve all realized that we need to get busy.

So I applaud your 2011 production! I like the ideas you are sharing and I can see where I need to be incorporating some of that into my own pipeline.

Thanks for the worksheet! It’s great to be a VIP ;)

    Cheers,

    Hey Brandon!

Great post mate – I think that first tip you got from that Fred guy is priceless and it can be applied to so many situations, just in the sense, as you said of seeing how much money is there if you are able to think outside the box a little.

    Great stuff mate

    • Alex, the BuRP’er, Whalley….how have you been doing these days. Fred has some awesome stuff floating around in his head….and the best part…he actually turns them into great products. PS…I agree with your thought..it can be used in SO MANY off-the cuff ways….THAT would make a great info product in itself (as I’m opening my project list and jotting that idea down. ;) )

      Take care,
      Brandon

    Hi Brandon

Some great information here. I want to bookmark and go through each one thoroughly. Thinking outside the box that’s for sure. And the encouraging thing I found out of all this is we all know something and can monetise it. There are plenty of great suggestions here. Thanks Brandon. Much appreciated.

    Hey Brandon,

Just came across this today – really incredibly valuable ideas IMO. The hard part for many people would probably be in the execution. One thing you could do for an info product would be to use these as chapters and give examples of the execution of each.

Really, you could interview, say 3 people, for each chapter and come away with a product that is both useful and easy to make.

    Have a good day!

  7. Ryan says:

With the first couple of sites I launched I really didn’t offer anything and didn’t focus on making money. Had plenty of traffic, but didn’t add revenue streams… then one day it just kinda hit me how obvious it was.

I just started asking for business or sales and then “magically” it happened. Can’t get if you don’t ask.

    • Hey Ryan,

You are absolutely correct. it does “magically” happen. It’s actually kind of funny…since I’ve started driving home call to actions…any time it seems like a create a call to action, good stuff happens. Happened to me yesterday sitting in front of a potential client who wants a website. Near the end, while we hadn’t yet come to a 100% conclusion that she was wanting a website…I simply asked…”so do you want to move forward with a new site?” or something like that…answer was yes.

I look at just about every single thing anymore as needing a call to action…from blog posts, to emails, etc.

    Hi Brandon,

Just wanted to let you know that I absolutely loved your tip #1 and you gave me a couple of ideas in tip #2.

I can relate to the fact that sometimes you’re very good at something and even if it is something simple you don’t want to work doing that task/service (been there, done that).

Anyway, thanks for the great info, I got in your list ;-)
