Hello InfoPreneurs!
I know this may be a bit off topic, but not really. The reason is 2-fold.
#1: It can help you get MORE TRAFFIC
#2: Give, and then Receive
You may have heard about the power of Twitter, StumbleUpon, Social Book Marking, etc. I want to quickly show you some examples.
Anyway, we as bloggers, tweet and stumble, and Digg (when I get it to work right for me) each others stuff. Now, WordPress, in and of itself,is a VERY powerful organic Google search engine tool. Google loves it’s SILO structure where there are categories, topical posts, sitemaps, and a nicely formatted database to crawl.
Over the past week, I’ve really been making an effort, to ensure that the titles to posts, and the content within is geared more toward InfoPreneurs, and to be as Keyword and Tagged rich posts as possible. I don’t want to take away from the Title being eye-catching. I just want to involve Keywords that correlate to the site to get picked up better.
Example of Poor Post:
Ten Ways to Control Your Bladder (maybe a post about getting distracted taking restroom breaks)
Example of Good Post:
Increase Traffic Rankings using 10 Ways to Control Your Bladder
Anyway, I want to update you on some of our most recent posts, and their rankings within Google to show you their power. I completely believe this has everything to do with 2 main things: Our keywords and tags, and the social media tactics being deployed. People talk and comment about each post.
Term:
Sisters to Success – This term without quotes has moved spot #7 out of 17.7Million.
Transfer Hosting to Hostgator – This term without quotes has immediately jumped to #8 out of 279,000.
Incorporate Humor Blogging and Incorporate Humor Posts – These 2 terms are ranked #1 and #2 without quotes out of 300,000 and 1.2 MM results.
Improving Videos – Holds spots 4 and 5, without quotes, out of 11.7MM results.
Anyway, I know this is a short post, but I had to spread this powerful information to you, while it was fresh on my mind.
Brandon
If you are going to take the time to create a great post, make it friendly to your readers, and to Google. You will thank youself later.

BRandon mate, that’s fantastic to hear. further confirmation that James knew what he was doing when he asked you to take the reigns.
Well done on the results man, no check again, I bet they’ve moved up.
Now…. check again, I bet they moved down!
it’s hard to keep up sometimes I swear.
btw: get out of my head man!
Just for the record, if someone was to be guest posting on TIP and the article seemed similar in alignment to this, then you should know that this person ALREADY WROTE THE ARTICLE …. LOL!

Hey Alex,
yeah, it almost becomes an obsessive thing checking certain stats and stuff, but I guess once i’m comfortable things are moving in the right direction, I’ll be able to not check as often and just do the do. Google has a way of putting things up there in the rankings, letting them come off for maybe a few days, or a week, and then plastering it right back up into where it should be. Just sort of testing it I think.
The “alexa” ranking right now is taking a big dip…mainly due to the Monday server being down for nearly 2/3 or 3/4 of the day, but I’m telling you, I can from the number of visitors over the past 2 days, something good is going on. really good.
PS. Sorry if I ….uhhhh… stole your article.
Later,
Brandon
Hey Brandon,
Interesting post. I have been just now starting to incorporate keyword research into my blog and articles I’m submitting. Haven’t seen many results from it yet but it seems like SEO is a much slower but more consistent traffic method so I’ve got hope.
Peace,
Darren L Carter

It may be slower, I really don’t know, but I know when you have people retweeting yourself, you are out ping.fm’ing your stuff, getting various backlinks, etc is a good way.
Brandon
It’s really best practice all around. You get the SERP bonus and have something people are more than happy to share due to the fact it doesn’t come across as a generic list.

That’s definitely true. No generic list here…
#1 and #2 huh, and all because you “corrected” the spelling and tweaked the title?! Good stuff Brandon, that’s what we pay you for…
I’m kidding of course, but seriously, I’m very pleased.

Hey Mo, I really hoped you’d see that and comment.
I’m smiling right now.
Now remember…I didn’t tell everyone I corrected the spelling…you did. I can’t help it somewhere down the road we diverged from spelling organisation, colour, learnt, and humour from you guys.
It all cracks me up though and is nice that it gives us something to joust across the oceans over.
Better to be jousting about words, rather than whether your BP company is going to pay us, or whether our government is going to pay us (er, raid more tax payer dollars to pay us…ummm…yeah).
“That’s what we pay you for”…. Nice.
Have a good one.

Yeah, it’s amazing what a small title tweak can for rankings. Sometimes I get so busy writing, I forget to do that. Work in progress…

Hey Brandon,
Interesting post man. As you know my last month traffic report, search engine traffic was really bad.!! So, finally i have started working more on seo.

Hey Dev, no problem. Glad you enjoyed.

Here’s my question: What good is the search term if you have to put it in quotes?
Pretty much any sentence or phrase you take from your site can show up close to the top when you place it in quotes.
Isn’t the real test if you show up without the quotes?
Showing up for short keywords or phrases is awesome, but how many people really search with quotes around it? I never do.
I only search with quotes when I’m looking for other websites that have stolen my content.
Hey Richard,
maybe I’m a geek, (well, yeah, we have already gone over that part of it last weekend), but I sometimes do searches with quotes. Not often, but I do.
At least with quotes…you can start to get a good feel for how you are doing for that exact phrase, versus just something in general.
PS…please disregard my post the other day that was swiped from your blog.
It may show up on your “in quotes” search.
take it easy,
Brandon
lol It really is a never-ending battle. One of my posts I wrote shows up on about ten other websites, word for word, they even stole my spacer.gif (hot linked) that separates the list. It’s silly. Others have taken my articles and put it into their monthly newsletters that they mail to thousands and make money off. Others steal my pics. That’s a huge issue! Even though every single pic has copyright on it and all over the website it says copyright. People don’t care. Really gets my blood boiling. lol
Man, that’s too bad. Stinks. Are you able to contact their hosting and have their accounts stopped? I have no idea.
Ahhhhh…another reason to use video.
Talk later,
Brandon
I’ll thank you now before I thank myself later.
I’m on to my second month and some of the goals are to further introduce myself to the blogosphere and jump off the cliff…then spread my wings. Gives you an adrenalin rush. Before you know it, you’ll be gliding smoothly.
Have a good one B.

Hey Brandon,
Yeah, this is definitely something that I need to pay MUCH more attention to. I tend to write things right before I post them (another thing I need to change), so I usually completely skip SEO & the like.
Its a good reminder! Thanks for posting this sir!

Hey Mark…
no problem. I started trying last week to do all my blog posts 1 day in advance. I feel so much more at each, and relaxed, and just let things come to me more naturally. It’s been a good feeling.
