Make This Weekend Count + Video

by theinfopreneur on March 12, 2010

OK the weekend is here so what are you going to do about it? I work varied shifts but I have this weekend off and I thought the majority will have it off from work too, if not just think of this post when you do have you day or two off soon.

Now it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of updating your site or promoting your products but not actually moving forward;

  • Treadmill

Updating your content or promoting your products is fine and it has to be done daily, your absolutely right to do those things, but if you never take action to develop and push on you will be keeping up with the movement just like a treadmill, you don’t actually move forward you are just keeping up with the momentum rather than actually drive the belt forward.

The problem with treadmills is once you set the speed and incline all most people do is keep up with the pace rather than setting the pace for everyone else. Take action;

  • Strike

The best way I can explain the market, any market is to think of a person stood still. If your market place is a person stood in front of you and you place a hand on their chest and nice and slowly start to push, they will be prepared for that and it will take a while to actually make them move because of the pressure they are putting against you. Now think of the same example but the market place is completely un-aware of what you are going to do, then you explosively push them.

What would happen? That’s right, they would go flying backwards and that’s how you have to take action in your market, no more softly softly and gently trying to make your way in life and business, start making some waves. I want you to make a plan of something you are going to do this weekend to take you forward in your goals or dreams.

In true InfoPreneur style I will lead by example;

  • I will set up and PodCast account with iTunes which will enable people to download and listen to my stuff from next week.
  • I also plan to start recording my videos for the people I am going to work with this weekend. If you would like to work with me then see this post.
  • The other thing I plan to do is to start looking for my next car.
  • I also plan on commenting on at least 200 sites this weekend.
  • Last thing I plan on doing is to spend some awesome time on the hills with my family and treating my wife on mothers day.

Below is a video which will outline all this too;

What does everyone think?

Great advice, I love the treadmill analogy.
I trust you’ve taken the advice of my book and you won’t be wasting money on that next car! :)

I think your last bullet point is THE most important one ;)

I usually have my lads weekends, not this weekend, so I may well get stuck in as I often do when I have a free weekend, or I may do nothing but get out and see people, see what happens.

I don’t get out enough really, so that second option appeals… :)

Agreed – family and friends (and you) time is so important. It’s all too easy to get immersed in work and forgot about the really important things. Kids grow up way too fast and it’s a shame to miss out.

What I think… really?

I think you would strike *extreme fear* into a shrew tweaked out on crystal meth.

Crank it up man. Faster. Steeper.

You’re my treadmill, man, just keeping up with you gets me ahead.

Off to mix it up.

I make every second count. I’ve wasted a lot of time in my earlier days; it’s not going to happen anymore. Keep the momentum going; just keep it going !!

Commenting on 200+ sites ? Boy, you’re frickin’ crazy !

Hi James,
Do us all a favor will ya? Try not to blow-up over the weekend. Commenting on 200 Blogs …… nah, I read that wrong, ………. right!
Each one of my posts takes 4 to 5 minutes to read then 1 or 2 minutes to comment, 200 Blogs ……… that’s 10 hours a day just commenting!
Yeah, I can spell H-E-A-R-T-A-T-T-A-C-K at 36 ……… hey, ….. I’m just sayin!

What kind of car are you looking for by the way? Also, I love what you talk about here when you say to come in with a bang and so much force that the marketplace flies away from you become you hit it so hard.

Great post!
